ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for a Pesticide and Toxic Substance License in Zambia, the applicant will have to contact the Environmental management agency of Zambia, for the main office visit link.
  2. Make sure that you have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. Fill the application form provided in the Environmental management agency after understanding the guidelines properly.
  4. Submit the application with necessary attachments to the office.
  5. ZEMA receives and analyses the application package.
  6. After submission if the authorities are satisfied with the standards that are followed a quotation or invoice for license will be provided to the applicant.
  7. Pay the fee as per given in the “Fees” section of this page.
  8. The applicant gets the license in a stipulated period of time.

EligibilityEdit

  • Applicants should be a resident of Zambia.
  • Applicants must be above 21 years.
  • A person who intends to manufacture, import, export, store, distribute, transport, blend, process, re-process or change the composition of a pesticide or toxic substance or who intends to reprocess an existing pesticide or toxic substance for a significantly new use.

License Fee:

  • Import and distribution 8,667 fee units per product.
  • Large scale local distribution 25,000 fee units.
  • Storage facility/Premises 5,000 fee units.
  • Small scale local distributor 278 fee units.
  • Clearing agents/transit storage 5,000 fee units.
  • Transportation 2,500 fee units.
  • Manufacturing 125,000 fee units.
  • Fumigation -125, 000 fee units.
  • Fumigation (small scale) 1, 250 fee units.
  • Pest control agent 1,250 fee units.
  • Pest control agent (small scale) 650 fee units.

  • The license will be cancelled if provider is caught guilty of one of the following:
  • Giving false information.
  • Transferring license without approval.
  • Failing to comply with an enforcement notice.
  • Failing to comply with provisions of the WSS Act or license conditions.
  • Failing to provide WSS service according to SLG.
