Zambia - Obtain Airworthness Certificate

ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for an airworthiness certificate in Zambia, the applicant will have to contact the Zambia Civil Aviation Authority, for the main office visit link.
  2. Make sure that you have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. An application form will be provided to the applicant upon visiting the Zambia Aviation Authority office.
  4. Once understanding the guideline properly, the applicant has to fill-in all the necessary information in the application form.
  5. Submit the application form with necessary attachments to the office.
  6. Approved applications will be required to take an exam to check the worthiness of the aircraft.
  7. When the exam is conducted successfully, the applicant will be eligible for the certificate.
  8. Pay the fee as per given in the “Fees” section of this page.
  9. After the completion and verification of all the required documents, the license will be accessible.
  10. The "certificate of airworthiness" will include any flight manual or performance schedule relating to and required to be carried with the certificate under the law of the country in which the certificate is issued.
  11. Upon completion of above steps the applicant gets the license in a stipulated period of time.

EligibilityEdit

  • The aircraft should be a series aircraft.
  • The flight should not be forbidden by the Director.




FeesEdit

For Aircraft weight not exceeding 2730kg:

  • Issue Fee, Renewal Fee, and Validation Fee for Private Aircraft is 15, 15 and 25 respectively.
  • Issue Fee, Renewal Fee, and Validation Fee for Other Classification of Aircraft (e.g. Public Transport Aircraft) is 35,35 and 35 respectively.


For Aircraft weight exceeding 2730kg but not exceeding 5700kg:

  • Issue Fee, Renewal Fee, and Validation Fee for Private Aircraft is 35,35,35 respectively.
  • Issue Fee, Renewal Fee, and Validation Fee for Other Classification of Aircraft (e.g. Public Transport Aircraft) is 65, 65 and 65 respectively.

InstructionsEdit

  • The flight should be carried out only for the purpose of either qualifying for the issue or renewal of a certificate of airworthiness or a validation of such a certificate or obtaining the approval of modifications or for the purpose of testing radio apparatus installed in such aircraft.
  • The flight will take place wholly within 10 nautical miles of the place of departure which shall be a licensed aerodrome, a Government aerodrome or an aerodrome used in connection with an aircraft factory.
  • The aircraft should not fly over any town or populous area, over any assembly of persons in the open air, or over any aerodrome where at the time conditions are such as to make the flying of the aircraft dangerous.
