ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for a firearm license in Zambia, the applicant will have to contact the police service of Zambia, for the main office visit link.
  2. Make sure that you have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. An application form will be provided to the applicant upon visiting the police station present in the applicant’s respective block.
  4. Once understanding the guideline properly, the applicant has to fill-in all the necessary information in the application form.
  5. Submit the application form with necessary attachments to the office.
  6. Pay the fee as per given in the “Fees” section of this page.
  7. After the completion and verification of all the documents, a provisional certificate will be accessible.
  8. Upon the issuance of the Provisional Firearm Certificate, the applicant has to purchase a firearm from any Registered/Licensed Firearms dealer.
  9. Upon completion of this process, the applicant will be eligible for firearm license from Police Headquarters.
  10. The applicant gets the license in a stipulated period of time.

EligibilityEdit

  • A person should be a minimum of twenty-one years.
  • The applicant should be fit and proper: such a person should be someone who is stable and responsible i.e., s/he is not violent, nor involved in domestic violence or abuse or dependent on alcohol or narcotics.



FeesEdit

  • Application Fee: Pay the fee as per the authority request.



ValidityEdit

  • This licence is valid for 3 years and is subject to renewal.

InstructionsEdit

If any person-

  • Purchases, acquires or has in his possession any firearm or ammunition without holding a firearm license in respect thereof or otherwise than as authorised by such licence, or, in the case of ammunition, in quantities in excess of those so authorised.
  • Fails to comply with any condition subject to which a firearm license is held by him; he shall, subject to the provisions of this Act, be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding one hundred and twelve thousand five hundred penalty units or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding fifteen years, or to both.
