Zambia - Obtain a Diplomatic Visa

ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for a diplomatic visa in Zambia, the applicant will have to visit the department of immigration, for the main office visit link.
  2. Make sure that you have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. An application form will be provided to the applicant upon visiting the department of immigration.
  4. Once understanding the guideline properly, the applicant has to fill-in all the necessary information in the application form.
  5. Submit the application form with necessary attachments to the office.
  6. Pay the fee as per given in the “Fees” section of this page.
  7. After the completion and verification of all the documents, the visa will be accessible.
  8. Collect your visa from the office or wait for the visa to arrive via post on the postal address in a stipulated time.


Apply-Online

  1. Visit the following online registration portal.
  2. Login if you already have an account or register yourself.
  3. Provide the details asked like name, email and passport number.
  4. Choose “Type of Representative” from the drop down menu provided.
  5. Click on the “register” button.
  6. Go to the login portal again and login with your username and password.
  7. After you have successfully logged into the system with your account credentials, click “My Profile” to access your personal profile information.
  8. Data form will display and the information will be organized in 3 tabs: Identity, Address, Contact.
  9. Fill in all the appropriate details and after you have finished click the “Save” button to save the information.
  10. Open the “Contact” tab and provide your up-to-date contact information, so that the Immigration Department could reach you for questions and notices. Otherwise, you may miss some important information. Click “Save” after you have finished.
  11. Now, go to “My Workplace” you will see a links under “Available Permits” for various permits
  12. Select “diplomatic visa” service from the permits list present in the menu.
  13. Select “diplomatic visa” service from the permit list of the menu.
  14. Click “Next” and complete the application that consists of a form for a diplomatic visa and again click “Next”.
  15. Review the application requirements, scan and upload the required documents, click “Next”.
  16. Preview the completed application form as a PDF file (you can print or save it for your records).
  17. Your application can be tracked after logging in and going to the “submitted” section.
  18. Wait for approval of your application.
  19. When your application is approved, wait for authority’s action.
  20. Collect your document according to the authority’s suggestion.

  • Covering letter from the Ministry responsible for Foreign Affairs addressed to the Director General of Immigration in support of the application
  • Note Verbale from the Mission/copy of letter of accreditation
  • Certified copy of valid passport (bio data & last endorsement stamp for Zambia)
  • One recent passport size photographs
  • Certified copy of Diplomatic Identity Card from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

EligibilityEdit

  • Applicants should be one of the following categories:
  • Ambassadors
  • Ministers of foreign countries
  • career diplomats
  • Consular Officers
  • representatives of prescribed international organizations
  • officials and employees of a foreign Government or international organizations recognized by the Government of Zambia
  • members of the immediate family of the holder of the Diplomatic Permit
  • personal/domestic staff of the holder of the Diplomatic Permit.




FeesEdit

  • There is no fee applicable for a diplomatic visa.

  • This document is valid for a period mentioned in the permit.
