According to Building control Act section 52 and construction Act, a person or a firm can apply to register with National Construction Authority.
Step 1:
- The application shall be made in the prescribed form and on payment of a prescribed fee and shall be accompanied by:-
- Certified copies of certificates and other relevant documents as are necessary to prove qualification for registration.
- Certified copies of the shareholders certificates of the company; and
- in the case of a trust, a copy of trust deed as contemplated in The Trust Property Act.
- A complete financial statements of the person or firm for three immediate financial years preceding the application or proof of existence of a bank account in the name of the construction company.
Step 2:
- All contractors (including prospective contractors) who wish to register with the National Construction Authority may visit the ministry of lands Housing and urban Development to pick forms to facilitate their application to register with the National construction Authority.
Step 3:
- The completed forms may be delivered to the Authority's office on at the ministry of Lands,Housing and Urban development,you can send a mail to the Authority postal address P.O. Box 7096 Kampala or sent to the Authority through the Ministry of Lands,Housing and Urban Development Offices.
- All applications should be accompanied by a copy of the receipt for payment of registration fees.

Step 4:
- The Board may call for further particulars of the person or firm that includes but not limited to:
- certified copies of the identity documents of the principal or principals of the firm;
- where there are more than twenty principals, certified copies of the identity documents of only twenty principals may be submitted;
- in the case of a foreign contractor , proof of current registration status from their country of domicile or origin further to the provisions of section 18 of the the Act;
- in the case of a foreign contractor, sufficient proof of financial capability of the contractor;
- proof of employment of qualified persons by the contractor;
- in the case of an application relating to specialized works, a certified copy of the current license issued by the relevant statutory regulatory Authority or organization.
Step 5:
- A person or a firm may be registered in more than one class of construction works but may hold only one category of registration in relation to a particular class of construction works at any one given time.
Step 6:
- If an application in relation to the regulation is made on the world wide web (electronically), the supporting documentation referred to above must be submitted to the Authority headquarters office by registered mail or be hand delivered.
Step 7:
- An application shall not be considered duly completed as contemplated in the regulation, unless such submission has been received by the Authority.
Step 8:
- The Authority may reject an application by a person/firm within 60 days of making such application if such person does not fully comply with requirements set by the Authority.
Step 9:
- The application for registration shall be in English.
Step 10:
- A register of registered person/firms shall be kept in accordance with section 52 of the Act.
Step 11:
- A person who qualifies for registration will be issued with a Certificate of Registration by the National construction Authority.
Required DocumentsEdit
The required documents are as follows-
- a certificate of incorporation from the Registrar of companies either as a limited liability company, partnership or sole proprietorship;
- in case of a limited liability company, the Memorandum and Articles of Association is certified by the Registrar of companies,
- a resolution from the technical director who shall be authorized by the Board through Board resolution to take responsibility on all technical matters.
- the curriculum vitae for each Director / Partner.
- Provides the Authority with the PIN, VAT and Tax compliance.
- Provide evidence of existence of a bank account in the name of the construction company.

EligibilityEdit
All Individuals or companies interested in Construction Business and other related construction services are eligible registered with the National Construction Authority.
- Contractors in Building Industry and others stakeholders who are interested in expansion of the construction industry;
- Any person who possesses technical qualifications and registered by the relevant professional Body and suitable to carry out duties in matters relating to construction industry as envisaged under Section 52 of the Building Act.

One must be in construction industry.
- One must be extended on making research into any matter relating to the construction industry.
- Contractors are required by law to register with National Construction Authority in Uganda.
- Contractors are required to keep the standardization and improvement of construction techniques and materials.
- The contractors must pay to the Authority the imposed fees of registration.
- There is a fine of one million shillings, or imprisonment or both to any person or company that may not comply to the law.

- Construction is one of the most dynamic sectors of Uganda's economy, contributing 5 per cent of the country's gross domestic Product, Construction activity is concentrated in the major urban centers.
- The construction sector is being supervised by the ministry of Lands, Housing and urban development in Uganda. The National Construction Authority under the ministry of lands and housing was developed by the parliament of Uganda with a mandate to streamline, overhaul and regulate all activities of the construction industry in Uganda and also establish a code of conduct.
- All Companies in the Business of construction Must register with the National construction Authority in order to participate in major Government infrastructure projects such as tenders, supplies and general practice in engineering, roads and bridges, building and architectural design services in the country. No Construction company in Uganda can receive a permit unless it has registered with the National Construction Authority.
