ProcedureEdit

Step One :

Applicant should obtain Forms A and B and any other information from the nearest Immigration Office or download on the Immigration website:Ministry of internal Affairs

Step Two :

The forms should be taken personally by the applicant for endorsement by Area local council 1, 2, 3, RDC and DISO.

Step Three :

After endorsements above, applicant should visit any URA revenue collection bank such as Bank of Africa, Diamond Trust Bank, Stanbic, Crane, Barclays, Orient etc and pay passport fees. The Passport costs Uganda Shillings UGX 150,000 for normal applications or UGX 300,000 for Express applications, UGX 250,000 for Official Passports and UGX 300,000 for Diplomatic Passports. All fees are exclusive of bank charges which vary from bank to bank i.e. UGX 2200 to UGX 3000.

Step Four :

You will be issued with a bank receipt which you will attach on your application.

Step Five :

File your documents in a manila file folder and present them IN PERSON to the receiving officers at the Passport Receiving Section at the Ministry of Internal Affairs or your nearest Passport Control Office or the Regional Immigration Office. A receiving Slip will be issued to you indicating your receiving code and file number.
Warning: Avoid Middlemen or Kayungirizi. Applications submitted by Middlemen will not be accepted/received.

Step Six :

Collect your passport IN PERSON after ten working days (normal passport applications) or two (2) working days (for Express Passport Applications) from the point where you submitted the application, unless advised otherwise by an Immigration Officer. You will be required to present your Receiving Slip and identifications at the time of collecting your passport at the Passport Delivery Office.

Please follow the steps below to make the on-line passport application.

  1. Log into passport portal :Online portal
  2. Accept the terms and conditions displayed in the Disclaimer.
  3. Answer simple security questions
  4. Complete the passport application form You will then need to fill your personal details your names,telephone contact,marital status,date of birth,residential address and details of origin.parent details,Next of Kin,Residential Address.
  5. You will be directed to the Recommender page, fill the details of all your recommender including their contact details and NIN number.
  6. Print Passport Application Payment Advice Form
  7. Make payment for exclusive replacement of your passport using the selected payment method.All fees are exclusive of bank charges which vary from bank to bank i.e. UGX 2200 to UGX 3000.
  8. Schedule appointment for a date of your convenience using the schedule appointment link on the home page.passport Link 1
  9. You should then print your filled application and three copies of the invoice to present to the DIRECTORATE of CITIZENSHIP and IMMIGRATION CONTROL department offices.
  10. The online application form will require the applicant to fill all the details. After you fill all the details you will then be asked to review the form and ascertain that the details therein are correct. If everything is okay then you should click continue for the final submission.



Visit immigration offices to complete application

  1. After printing the application and invoice you are required to visit Directorate of Citizenship and immigration control office in Kampala or Regional Immigration Offices, or at Uganda High commission abroad for collection of fingerprints, digital photo and signature and also to drop required documents.
  2. You must appear in-person for digital photo and biometrics capture in Directorate of Citizenship and immigration control office in Kampala or Regional Immigration Offices , or at Uganda High commission abroad.
    • An Online pre-filled passport application form and three invoices.
    • written explanation for change of names addressed to the Passport Control Officer.
    • Supportive documents i.e deed poll, marriage, certificate etc
    • Original copy of the National ID with the names clearly appearing.
    • Copy of bank payment receipt of UGX 250,000 (Uganda Shillings) issued after payment from the bank.
  3. After lodging the application the passport will be ready for collection at the Directorate of Citizenship and immigration control offices after 2 working days if express processing or 10 working days ordinary processing.
  4. You are required to bring proof of identification when collecting the passport. You can also track the application progress through your online account https://www.passports.go.ug. You will be contacted through text and/or email when to collect your passport.

InstructionsEdit

  • Only the Government of Uganda through the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control Uganda is the one in charge of processing and issuing passports. The main Passport office can be found at the Ministry of Internal Affairs Plot 75, Jinja Road.
  • Passport applications may also be processed through the Immigration regional offices.



Required InformationEdit

  1. Duly endorsed forms A and B
  2. Covering letter from Employer/School/Parents/ Guardian or person well known to the applicant. The covering letter should be addressed to the Passport Control Officer; Ministry of Internal Affairs; Kampala
  3. Copy and original of applicants identifications documents e.g. National ID, Voters Card, Birth Certificates, School Certificate, Residential ID, Baptism Card or Employers Card.
  4. Recommendation from a citizen of good repute who shall provide you with a copy of his/her ID or Passport.
  5. Any other information as may from time to time be required by the passport Control Officer.

  • A passport is a document, issued by the national government. It certifies the identity and nationality of the holder for travel abroad. It contains information about the holder; like name, gender, date and place of birth.
  • It is important that the name on your passport matches you legal name. If there are any changes in your name, have the information on your passport modified as soon as possible.
