ProcedureEdit
- Application to be submitted twenty-one(21 days)prior to exportation or importation.
- Approval for all import MUST BE granted prior to the actual importation.
Apply In-Person
- Individuals or organizations wishing to import wildlife specimens will be required to make an application to the Director of Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) using official forms.
- This form can be obtained from the UWA website or from the“Document to Use” section of this page.
- The applicant will be required to submit the completed application form together with the documents issued by a competent authority of the country of origin.
- These documents are mentioned in the "Required Documents Section" of this page
- One would also require a Phytosanitary Health Certificate from National Plant Health Measures(NPHM)for the case of plant material and Veterinary Health certificate from the Veterinary Authority for the case of animal materials.
- You will also be asked to pay the appropriate fees as prescribed.These fees are mentioned in the“Fees Section" of this page.
- UWA officials will go through your application and if everything is in order you will be issued with the permit to import the wildlife specimen.

- The foreigner schools who have a valid travel permit.

- CITES import/ export/ re-export permit Ugsh.150, 000.
- Non- CITES import/ export/ re-export permit Ugshs. 100,000.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- Wildlife specimen Import Permit is issued under Section 40 of the Wildlife(Uganda wildlife Act).Individuals or organizations wishing to export or import wildlife specimens will be required to make an application to the Director,Uganda Wildlife Authority using official forms.

- All applications for export or re- export or import permits will be processed on the basis of their conformity to the Wildlife(Uganda Wildlife Act)and where applicable,relevant international conservation conventions.
- Depending on their nature,applications may be directed the Scientific Authority both within and outside UWA and /or other Divisions within UWA for inspection,investigation,consultations and recommendations.
