ProcedureEdit

  1. To obtain a residence permit, applicants will need to submit an application to the Director of Immigration.
  2. You may use the link provided under 'Documents to Use' section to download the form.
  3. Submit the completed form and all the required documents to the Immigration officer.
  4. Pay all applicable fees.
  5. It will take about four weeks for your application to be processed.

Required DocumentsEdit

First time residence permit application (annual):

  • Completed application form signed by applicant
  • Local medical certificate obtained within six months
  • Two passport sized photos (one certified on back of photo)
  • Covering letter with complete address, email address and telephone contact
  • Financial statement
  • Original police record
  • Letter of undertaking stating applicant will not engage in gainful employment while residing in the islands
  • Passport pages showing:
    • entry stamp page
    • departure stamp page
    • photo page


Endorsement of spouse to a permit (annual residence permit):

  • Covering letter
  • Medical certificate
  • Two passport sized photos (one certified on back of photo)
  • Certified copy of marriage certificate (translated if need be)
  • Copies of passport pages showing photo page and entry or departure stamps


Residence permit for spouse of Belonger ten (10) years:

  • Completed application form signed by applicant
  • Local medical certificate obtained within six months
  • Two passport sized photos
  • Certified copy of spouse National Turks and Caicos Islander Status Card
  • Covering letter from spouse endorsing application
  • Marriage certificate (Must be verified of legitimacy through Haitian Consulate)
  • Police record (police records are not accepted from Haiti and Dominican Republic)

EligibilityEdit

A residence permit may be issued to the following individuals:

  • A person of Independent Means: the applicant must have the capacity to maintain his/herself and dependants in the islands without either persons engaging in gainful occupation. Additionally the applicant rents a home or owns a home or has available to him a house that is indicative of an acceptable standard of living in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
  • A person who has invested in a Home or Business and meets the following criteria.
    • If the applicant has invested:
      in the islands of Providencailes or West Caicos, the investment must not be less than $500,000
      in the islands of Grand Turk, Salt Cay, South Caicos, Middle Caicos or North Caicos, the investment must not be less than $250,000
    • The applicant nor dependants intend to engage in any gainful occupation other activities that are necessary oversee his investment.
    • The applicant is able to maintain himself and his dependants in the islands without engaging in any gainful occupation other activities that are necessary oversee his investment.
  • A person who is the spouse of an Islander or British or British Overseas Territory Citizen and lives with that spouse.



FeesEdit

  • Independent Means/Investment - $1500 plus $150 non-refundable administrative
  • Spouse of an Islander or BOTC - $1500 plus $150 non-refundable administrative
  • Endorsement (Only a spouse or dependant child under the age of 18 may be endorsed) - $500 plus $150 administrative fee

Conditions attached to the issuance of a residence permit:

  • A person who acquired a residence permit by virtue of being a person of independent means and investment in a home or business is not allowed to engage in any gainful occupation other activities that are necessary oversee his investment
  • A person who acquired a residence permit by virtue of being the spouse of an Islander or British Overseas Territory Citizen is able to work without a work permit, as indicated by an endorsement on the permit, provided he/she lives with that spouse.
