Procedure

Multiple citizenship, dual citizenship, multiple nationality or dual nationality, is a person’s citizenship status, in which a person is concurrently regarded as a citizen of more than one state under the laws of those states.

How to Apply
Tanzania does not currently allow its citizens to hold foreign citizenship in addition to their Tanzanian citizenship, except in the case of Tanzanian woman acquiring foreign nationality through marriage, or persons under 18 who acquire Tanzanian citizenship by birth or descent. Multiple nationals automatically lose their Tanzanian citizenship at 18 unless they renounce all other citizenship.

• Married women and children under the age of 18 years.

• You can only attain dual citizenship by marriage for women only or by birth for children of 18 years and below.

Need for the Document

• Dual citizenship in Tanzania refers to holding a foreign citizenship along with Tanzania citizenship. It is the nationality law that governs citizenship and other forms of nationality in Tanzania.
• Currently the Tanzania nationality law does not allow its citizens to hold other foreign countries citizenship; except in cases of women who acquire foreign citizenship through marriage and a Tanzanian child may acquire dual citizenship until the child reaches 18 years of age.
