Procedure

1. Fill up application form.
2. Submit form along with all other required documents.
3. Pay application fee.

• Dual Citizenship Certificate (A copy of payment receipt for citizenship Registration may be accepted)
• National Identity Card
• Birth Certificate and/or Driving License

Notes:

• Originals of the above documents must be submitted along with photocopies.

Eligibility

Provide eligibility criteria's for going through this procedure.

Fees

• Normal Basis - LKR. 2500.00
• Urgent Basis - LKR.7500.00

Validity

Currently issued N series passports are valid for 10 years unless otherwise specified. Validity period of passports for minors below 16 years of age are 3 years. Emergency Certificates are valid two (02) years but can be extended for further two years.

Instructions

You can submit all passport applications to the Passport Division (Level 01) of the Department of Immigration & Emigration located at No. 41, Ananda Rajakaruna Mawatha, Colombo 10.

If you need your passport for urgent traveling you can apply for one-day service. This service is only available at Immigration & Emigration Department Head office.

Required Information

A list which displays the kind of information which is required to complete the procedure.
e.g.
1. Date of Birth.
2. City or County of Birth.

Need for the Document

Dual citizenship means that you are a citizen of more than one country. For example you may hold two citizenships, one through your mother and one through your father.

With dual citizenship, you have rights and obligations to two different states, being entitled to possess two passports is one of these rights.

Office hours:

• Normal Processing Applications - from 8.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.
• Urgent Basis Applications - from 8.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. On week days only.

The office closes on weekends and during Public Holidays.
