Procedure

During lockdown, Applications are welcome through the email address of the South African Civil Aviations Authority.
Apply through email

1. To apply for renewing an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license through email, the applicant has to lodge the applications through email address of the South African Civil Aviations Authority.

3. Download the Application for renewal of AME licence by clicking the following link: Link
4. Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
5. Now, complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections. Attest it with your signature once completed.
6. Then, pay the applicable fees as directed to the relevant bank account. Find the information regarding payment in the office website or contact the office.
7. After paying the fees, make scanned copies of the required documents and the completed application form. Proceed to submit it through the following email address: [email protected]
8. Indicate the license number of the particular category that you are applying as the subject of the mail.
9. Then, the application will be forwarded to the concerned authorities for further verification processes.
10. Once the verification and validation processes are over, the application will be approved and the officials will proceed to take required steps for the renewal of license document.
11. When the document is ready to be collected, the applicant will be sent an SMS from the office and the applicant can collect it by themselves or arrange a courier service for collection.

Eligibility

• Any person, who has obtained an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license which needs a renewal, can apply.
• The applying entity must comply with all the requirements of license under the respective category as prescribed in the application form.

Fees

• Renewal of an AME license: R860.00
  

Validity

• An AME license is valid for a maximum period of 24 months.

• Any person who possesses an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license must be in compliance with the requirements and conditions as per the South African - Civil Aviation Technical Standards (CATS) 66: Link

Need for the Document

• It is essential for a person to have his/her Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license or permit updated and renewed periodically within 90 days immediately preceding the date of expiry.
