ProcedureEdit

Apply Online:

  1. To Apply for Registration of Assessment of Professional Competence, the applicant must go to the South African Institute of Chartered Accountant’s official website linked here Online Link
  2. The registration link will be opened after the SAICA releases the notification for the APC exam. APC Exam Dates Link
  3. Before applying for the APC registration, the applicant must have passed the ITC exam.
  4. Later the SAICA will release notification about the APC exam, and with the 8-digit SAICA profile number the applicant needs to apply further.
  5. In the given link, the applicant must select the “Login” option at the top right corner of the page Online Link
  6. The applicant must enter the “Contact ID and Password” created while registering for the ITC exam.
  7. On the given link the applicant must enter all the necessary details and should create the profile for oneself.
  8. After entering all the details, the applicant must select the “Submit” option to create the profile.
  9. Then the applicant must “Login” using the “Username and Password” created while making the profile Login Link
  10. Then the applicant must select the “Go” option.
  11. On the next page, the applicant must select the “Examinations” option under the “Become a CA” drop-down menu.
  12. Then must select the “Online Exam Registration” option. Then must select the “APC Exam registration” option. (Which will open only after the SAICA releases the notification)
  13. This will give the details of the APC exam registration details such as Fee, Coordinator Details, Start and End Date, and so on.
  14. After verifying the details, the applicant must select the “Book Online” option at the end of the page.
  15. On the next page, the applicant must enter all the necessary details asked on the registration page, and finally must select the option “Submit Booking”.
  16. The prescribed registration fee of R517.50 must be paid on the next page.
  17. The proof of payment must be faxed to 0116216821 or emailed to [email protected] .
  18. After submitting the applicant will receive the confirmation within 48 hours of submitting the online registration.
  19. Later the applicant will receive the “examination entrance/admission letter” in email 14 days after submitting the online registration.
  20. With the Admission Letter, the applicant must appear for the exam.
  21. The applicants will receive the “Pre-Release material” few days before the start of the exam.
  22. The APC exam results will be published on the official SAICA website Results Page Link
  23. The online registration application can be submitted immediately after entering all the necessary details. Therefore, the whole APC exam registration take between 0 – 15 days for the whole process.

EligibilityEdit

The applicant applying for the APC exam must have the eligibility requirements given here:

  • The applicant must have passed ITC exam, and should have completed 20 months of a registered training contract.
  • The applicant should also have a successfully completed an APC professional programme, offered for the first time in 2014.
  • The applicant must be a holder of a professional programme certificate obtained in either 2020, 2021 or 2022.


Also, the SAICA has some exceptions eligibility requirements for some of the applicants such as:

  • The applicant who holds the CPA(K) designation must write and pass the SAICA APC examination.
  • However, these applicants are not required to complete the Professional Programme for purposes of entry to the APC examination, although it is strongly recommended that they complete this programme.
  • This exception route is only available to individuals who hold the CPA(K) designation, and must have at least 24 months’ work experience after obtaining these designations.
  • The applicant must also be a graduate of a university degree assessed by the SAQA Foreign Qualifications Evaluation and Advisory Services as equivalent to a three year South African Bachelor’s degree.

  • The APC exam results are valid for a period of 3 consecutive years from the date of completing the professional programme.

InstructionsEdit

  • There are some waivers in the eligibility requirement of APC registration such as:
    • If a candidate has been granted an exemption or remission from service under a training contract by SAICA in terms of the provisions of SAICA's Training Regulations.
    • As per the terms of arrangements made by the IPD Committee and/or SAICA with and at the request of another organised body of professional accountants or auditors in terms of formal and signed recognition agreements for membership.
