Step 1 : First one has to make sure that all the required documents are in hand to apply online. If you would like to know about the documents that are required for this procedure, please visit the following link : Required Documents to Obtain Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC)
Step 2 : To apply for a Tax Compliance Verification service, the applicant have to first visit the following link: Apply online.
Step 3 : If you are already registered as a taxpayer and have the user credentials, click “Login” button which is highlighted in “Red” in the below image.

Step 4 : Now enter the username, click “Next” button which is highlighted in “Red” in the below image and enter Password, click “Next” button.

Step 5 : Otherwise, in the page that appears click “Register” button on the bottom of the page which is highlighted in “Green” in the below image.

Step 6 : In registration page, enter the personal details and click “Next” button which is highlighted in “Red” in the below image.

Step 7 : In next page, enter contact and login details and click “Next” button.Complete the registered with the SARS eFiling portal by completing the required actions.
Step 8 : Now login with the help of the login details as mentioned above and enter the portal. Proceed to upload the necessary documents and complete the remaining registration process as a taxpayer.
Step 9 : Activate a tax product which you should be in compliance with. A tax practitioner or eFiling administrator of an organisation must be very careful while allocating rights to users or third parties (for whom the TCS will be displayed).
Step 10 : Select “Tax Status” tab from the main menu or select “My Compliance Status” icon on the eFiling Dashboard landing page to access TCS function. Select “Activation” to activate the tax compliance status system.
Step 11 : The “Tax Compliance Status Service Activation” work page will be displayed and proceed to activate the Tax Compliance Status. Complete the Merge Entities function to see a complete profile of all taxes.
Step 12 : Once you have activated it and you have merged or declared all your registered tax reference numbers, you will be given access to your “My Compliance Profile” (MCP). You can view your tax compliance profile by selecting the “My Compliance Profile” menu option.
Step 13 : Now, select “Tax Compliance Status Request” option and select the type of TCS for which you want Tax Compliance Status. Complete the Tax Compliance Status Request and submit it to SARS.
Step 14 : Once your request is approved by SARS, you will be issued with an overall tax compliance status and a PIN. You can request that the PIN be sent to you via SMS and you can view it on your “Tax Compliance Status Request” dashboard on your eFiling profile.
Step 15 : Provide the third party with the PIN to enable them view your tax compliance status. The representative taxpayer or eFiling administrator must also register with the SARS eFiling portal as the same as a taxpayer.
Step 16 : After logging in, he/she should setup user groups and applicable user rights in order to perform TCS verifications. Click “Tax Status” tab, select “Tax Compliance Status Verification” option and proceed to complete the activation process.
Step 17 : Select the “New Verification Request” menu. Submit the taxpayer’s tax reference number and PIN number. The taxpayer’s current tax compliance status will appear and will be colour-coded with a detailed description of what the status means.
Step 18 : You will now be able to print the verification for recording purposes. Your verification will also be stored electronically in “History” for future reference.
