Apply In-Person:
- To apply for registering as a teacher or Educator in person, the applicant has to visit the office of the South African Council for Educators (SACE).
- Please click the following link for the address and contact details of the office of the South African Council for Educators: Link
- Visit the office of SACE and obtain the SACE Application Form from the concerned department for registering as an educator. Or click to download: Link
- Complete the application form as required with relevant information under respective sections.
- Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
- Attach all the required documents with the completed SACE Application Form and submit to the concerned authority at the office of SACE.
- Please pay the fees recommended by the authorities at the office. Then, the application will be forwarded to the respective authorities for verification and validation of the application and attached documents.
- After all the necessary processes are completed and if the application and documents are found in order, the council will approve the application and the applicant will be registered as an Educator and issued a Certificate of Registration.
Apply Online - How To Register as a teacher Online with Images

- To apply for registering as a teacher or Educator online, visit the e-services portal by clicking on the following link: Link
- If you already have an account in the portal, you can enter your registered Email Address and Password in the respective fields and click on “Login” button to enter into the portal.
- Otherwise, click “Sign Up/Register” option which is on the top of the page to create an account. Registration page will open.
- There are five steps to be completed for registration. In the Step 1, the applicant should provide the Personal details like name, ID number (for SA citizens) and Passport number (for Non-citizens) and then click on “Next” button.
- In Step 2, provide contact number and Email ID and Click on “Next” button. In Step 3, add your Suburb/Township/Village and click “Next” button. In step 4, create a password and click “Next” button to proceed.
- In Step 5, enter the verification code shown and click “Register” button. In the next page, you will be directed to enter the OTP which is sent to your mobile number and Email Id. Enter the OTP and click “Submit” button.
- You will get a successful completion of registration message on the top of the page. Now enter the Login credentials in the respective fields and click on “Login” button. You will be redirected to the ‘Dashboard’ page of the e-Government portal.
- In that page, click “License for Teaching” option to register as an educator with the SACE. Accept the Terms and conditions and proceed to fill the application.
- On the dashboard menu, click on “application” button. Follow the on-screen instructions and proceed to fill the application.
- Provide appropriate details in the relevant fields provided and upload documents wherever necessary.
- Once all the details have been provided, accept the declaration to confirm the legibility of the details provided.
- Then, submit the completed application in the e-services portal. The application and attachments will be examined and verified for validity.
- After all the processes got over, you will receive the response about the outcome of the application.

EligibilityEdit
- Any qualified teacher, who is searching for a job in South Africa as applicable to his/her qualification, can apply to register.
- The person applying must have a minimum qualification of diploma in education at NQF level 6 (Three years post matriculation qualification).
- Despite the above mentioned eligibilities, some provisional registrations are also offered which can be found in the ‘Provisional Registrations’ section of the following link: Link

InstructionsEdit
- If an applicant does not satisfy all the requirements, but the council is of the opinion that the requirements will be satisfied within a reasonable time, the council may register the applicant provisionally on such conditions as the council may determine.
- When an educator, who is provisionally registered, satisfies all the requirements for registration and the conditions set, the council must register the educator.
- If an educator does not satisfy the requirements for registration within the period specified, the provisional registration lapses and the name of the person is removed from the register.
- The period for which an educator is provisionally registered may be extended by the council and different conditions in respect of different applicants may be determined if there is a reasonable basis for the differentiation.

Need for the DocumentEdit
Every person who is qualified with proper teaching skills and want to get appointed as a teacher must register with the South African Council for Educators. No person may be employed as an educator by an employer unless that person is registered with the Council.
Information which might helpEdit
- Your qualification must be recognised for employment in education before you register with SACE. If you have foreign qualifications, these must first be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
- In the event that a certificate is destroyed or lost, an educator may apply to the chief executive officer for the issue of a duplicate certificate on payment of a fee as determined from time to time by the Council.
