Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Mining Titles Registration, the applicant must go to the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy office in South Africa. Contact Link
2. The Mining Titles Registration application can be filed only when the government releases the notification to register for the same.
3. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. The application form for the registration must be obtained from the authorities at the Mineral Resources department.
5. The application must be filed within 60 days from the date of the notification release.
6. The application form must be filled with all the necessary details, and along with the required documents, it should be submitted to the respective officials at the Mineral Resources Department.
7. The applicant needs to pay the Registration Fee of R 30.00 while filing the application, and the proof of payment must be attached with the supporting documents.
8. After submitting the application, the applicant will be issued with the Acknowledgement form with the details of the registration, which can be used for future references.
9. Then, the application will be forwarded to the regional officer of registered rights for the verification.
10. After complete verification process, if the documents and the details provided by the applicant is legitimate, then the Mining Titles Registration will be approved by the officials.
11. The Mining Titles Registration Certificate will be issued to the applicant after approval by the Director General of Mineral Resources Department.

13. The processing time will be intimated to the applicant after filing the registration application.

• Application form.
• Three sets of originally executed rights.
• Duly prepared and signed Regulation 42 plan/diagram. The plan/diagram must bear a prescribed certificate as contemplated in section 15A (2) of the Mining Titles Registration Amendment Act. (The preparer must disclose their name, designation, registration number and sign the certificate)
• A Power of Attorney.
• In case of converted rights, a copy of the Old Order Right.
• Prospecting /Mining Work Programme.
• In case of a Mining right, Social and Labour Plan as well as empowerment documents.
• The client’s copy of the prospecting right for endorsement purposes.
• Payment Proof.

Eligibility

• A company or organisation taking up the Mining Titles lease/business are eligible to apply for the Mining Titles Registration application in South Africa.

• Registration Application Fee – R30.00
• For any other additional Registration or Annotation – R50.00
• Issue of Certified Copies – R100.00

Validity

• The validity period of the registration will be mentioned in the registration certificate issued to the applicant.

• In order to run the Mining Titles Business or lease term, the applicant (organisation) must get the registration approved by the Mineral Resources Department.
