Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Bookmaker Premises Licence, Transfer and Amend Bookmakers Licence from Betting World to Relocate, the applicant must go to the Gauteng Gambling Board (GGB) office in South Africa. Contact Link
2. The application form must be obtained from the authorities at the GGB office.
3. The GGB will invite applicants for the license, the applicants can apply only after the GGB releases the notification officially.
4. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The application form must be filled with all the necessary details, and along with the required documents, it must be submitted to the respective officer in the GGB office.
6. The authorities will verify the application based on the Location, Motivation, Viability, and Empowerment of the applicant.
7. After verification, if all the details are legitimate then the license/relocation will be approved by the GGB members.
8. After the approval, the applicant will be issued with the license at the GGB office.
9. The application fee and the investigation fee must be paid by the applicant and the copy of the payment receipt must be attached along with the application form.

11. The processing time to get the license will be intimated to the applicant after applying.

• Application Form.
• 3 copies including a loose-leaf copy of the application form.
• Any reproduction and all accompaniments must be on standard A4-size paper and A3-size folded to A4- size.
• Copies of advertisements required by Section 20 of the Act.
• Applicant’s proposal in accordance with the requirements set out.
• Copy of payment receipt.

Eligibility

• Any individual who wishes to become a Bookmaker in any specific location in South Africa is eligible to apply for the Bookmaker license.
• If any existing Bookmaker license holder wants to change the location from one place to another is eligible to apply for relocation application.

Fees

• Non-Refundable application fee - R763,80 (including VAT) for amendment of licence.
• Investigation fee - R2000-00 (including VAT)

Validity

• The validity period of the bookmaker license will be mentioned in the license issued to the applicant.
