ProcedureEdit

  1. Gather all documents needed in the procedure.
  2. The applicant must submit the application in person.
  3. Pay the application fee.


For lost or stolen certificates

Report the incident and obtain a certificate of loss. Repeat the procedure of obtaining a certificate of vehicle registration.

Required DocumentsEdit

To obtain a gray card:

  • An application for traffic addressed to the Regional Land Transport Division stamped and visa service Tax and areas (DGID) obtained after payment of a fee which varies depending on the type of the vehicle and its purpose (transport or private use)
  • Proof of payment of the registration fee to the regional tax office
  • A certificate of insurance
  • A certified copy of the national identity card
  • A certificate of release for use (CMC) issued by the Directorate of Customs
  • For a new vehicles, the following must also be submitted:
    • Minutes of receipt provided by the vehicle manufacturer's representative and approved by the Directorate of Land Transport
    • A deed of manufacturer's representative
  • For imported used vehicle, the following must also be submitted:
    • A customs declaration number with CMC and customs stamp
    • The original foreign registration card
    • A bill of sale by the previous owner


Note:

  • The presentation of the vehicle to check the serial number before technical inspection is mandatory.
  • Importing of passenger cars (light weight) older than 5 years is prohibited in Senegal.
  • Foreign residents must provide a certified copy of their passport.


To register change of ownership

  • A vehicle registration certificate (logbook) crossed with the word sold
  • A deed legalized (form available from the DRTT)
  • An application for traffic addressed to the Regional Land Transport Division stamped and visa service and Tax (DGID) obtained after payment of a fee which varies depending on the type of the vehicle and its purpose (transport or private use)
  • A certified copy of the national identity card


Notes:

  • Foreign residents must provide a certified copy of their passport.
  • In case the vehicle is being registered in a place different from the place it was previously registered, the owner must provide a certificate of non-guarantee issued by the Transportation Department that issued the previous certificate of registration.
  • Presentation of the vehicle to check the serial number before technical inspection is mandatory.

EligibilityEdit

The vehicle's owner or his/her duly authorized representative may apply to obtain the Gray Card.



FeesEdit

  • Passenger cars or utility vehicles: 2,000 FCFA
  • Public transport vehicles: 1,000 FCFA
  • Vehicles with 2 or 3 wheels cylinder capacity not exceeding 125 cm3: 3,000 FCFA
  • Tractors: 3,000 FCFA
  • Trailers: 6,000 FCFA
