Procedure

Apply In Person

1. To Import a Vehicle from Qatar, the applicant has to approach the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority link
2. Ensure that the vehicle the applicant wishes to import is eligible for importation into Saudi Arabia. Check for any restrictions or specific requirements regarding the make, model, age, and condition of the vehicle.
3. Before exporting the vehicle from Qatar, obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Qatari authorities. This certificate confirms that the vehicle is allowed to leave the country.
4. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
5. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
6. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
7. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
8. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
9. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
10. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
11. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
12. Undergo a vehicle inspection to ensure that it meets the safety and emission standards of Saudi Arabia. This inspection is mandatory for imported vehicles.
13. Pay the Value Added Tax (VAT) and any applicable customs duties for the imported vehicle.
14. Once the vehicle is registered and passes the inspection, the applicant can obtain Saudi Arabian number plates and legally drive the vehicle in the country.
15. This entire process can be completed within 1 – 2 months or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
