Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. To reserve a trade name, applicant has to visit the commercial registration and licensing department at the MOCI office.

3. Applicant has to visit the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI)and obtain the application form from the respective officer.
4. Now complete the form with necessary information and make sure you have all the documents in hand that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. After filling the form, attach the documents mentioned in the required documents section below with the completed application form.
6. Check the application form and then submit it to the public service officer in the commercial registration and licenses department in the MOCI office. The address is mentioned in the office locations & contacts section below.
7. Now the authorities will verify your application and validate the submitted documents.
8. After verification process, the applicant will be later requested to collect the trade name reserved certificate on a specified date.

Apply Online

1. To reserve a trade name through online, visit the following link: online portal
2. If you already have an account, please enter your user id and password then click on “login” button.
3. If you don’t have an account, click on “new user” option.
4. Read the general instruction carefully and click on “I Agree” button.
5. In the next page, if you have valid Qatar Residency please choose “yes” from the dropdown menu. If you don’t have valid Qatar Residency please choose “No” from the dropdown menu.
6. In the next page, please select the document type from the dropdown menu. Then enter the appropriate details from the applicable field and click on “Next” button.
7. Now complete the form with necessary information and click on “Next” button.
8. You will receive an SMS with the verification code to your registered mobile number.
9. In the next page you enter the verification code and click on “Next” button.
10. In the next page you can upload the required documents then enter the required information and click on “Next” button.
11. In the next page acknowledgement statement is available, read it carefully then select the checkbox and click on “Submit” button.
12. Now you will receive an email with a case number and a verification link. Verify your email using that link. Then visit the nearest MOCI office and submit the case number to the respective officer which you have received in your email and SMS.
13. After submitting your case number, officers will verify and activate your new user.
14. After successful login, please select “Trade Name” service from the list and then click on “Booking a Trade Name” option.
15. Now select the desired trade name and commercial activity from the list then you can upload the required documents mentioned in the required documents section below and click on applicable button.
16. Once you complete this, you will be redirected to a screen in which you can review your information.
17. After reviewing your information, pay the appropriate fees to have the trade name booking issued.
18. After successful payment, now the authorities will verify your application and validate the submitted documents.
19. After verification process, the applicant will be later requested to collect the trade name reserved certificate on a specified date.

Required Documents

• Copy of applicant Qatari ID card.
• Copy of personal identification document.
• Official letter (in case the business name is to be reserved for 180 days).
• Copy of License to use a trademark (Attested by the Embassy of Qatar if the trademark is not from Qatar).

Eligibility

• Applicant who have personal identification document are eligible to apply.
• Applicant who have valid Qatar ID card are eligible to apply.

Fees

Applicable fees for reserving trade name is as follows:

• First time for three days: free of charge.
• For 180 days: QR1,000/- applies.

Validity

Explain the time until which the certificate/document is valid.

• Applicant shall submit a request to the commercial registration and licenses department in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) to reserve a trade name.

5. Qatar ID card number.
