ProcedureEdit

  • The food safety department services provide this temporary release request service.
  • This service allows food importers/clearance companies to request the temporary release of imported food consignments through the health office in the port concerned.
  • This is after an undertaking by the importing company not to act until the final decision on the consignment is made.

Apply In-Person

  1. An applicant for the temporary release of imported food consignment has to make an application in person to the Food Safety Department, of the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH). This can be done by visiting the Health office of the relevant at the relevant Port i.e. (Hamad Port, Hamad International Airport, Abu Samra, Ruwais Port) to make the application. The contact details of the mentioned ports can be found in the “Office Locations & Contacts” of this page.
  2. Here you should present your request for temporary release to the concerned port officer at the health office desk.
  3. Give in the required information correctly.
  4. Make sure you give proper Justification for the Request of the temporary release of the imported goods
  5. Once done, an e-payment link will be sent via text message to your phone or e-mail address.
  6. Click on click on the link and follow the steps for online payment.
    • Payment is done via credit card or debit card.
  7. Upon successful completion of the payment process, you will receive a text message or email confirming the success of the transaction and containing the payment receipt.
    • Print the payment receipt.
  8. Submit the receipt along with the consignment documents at the concerned port officer to complete the temporary release of the foodstuff.
  9. The required documents are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  10. Once the documents are submitted the Ministry of Public Health inspectors will carry out inspection of the foodstuff to determine if the prescribed safety standards are met or not and if it can be released.
  11. Once the inspection is complete, and everything is on order, Ministry of Public Health inspectors will temporarily release the imported foodstuff.
