Procedure

• Residence Permits renewal can be made 3 months prior to the expiry date.
• It is typically the responsibility of the employer to handle all paperwork required to renew the Residence Permit on behalf of the expatriate.
• The residence, cannot be extended while the concerned person is outside the country.

Apply In-Person

1. The application process for renewing a Residence Permit is handled by the employer, who is offering sponsorship.
2. With all the correct paperwork in order, the Qatari employer is to lodge the application for the renewal of the residence permit. This is done by making a renewal application to the Expatriates Affairs Department of the Ministry of Interior.
3. The Qatari employer can do this for by visiting the Expatriates Affairs Department offices in person. Here you will be issued with a “Residence Permit Renewal Application” form to fill and submit. This form can also be downloaded from the Ministry of Interior MOI Website or it can be downloaded from the following link : Residence Permit Renewal Application form
4. The employer should then make the required payments for the residence permit application.
5. The employer should then attach the acknowledgement receipt and required documents to the renewal application form and submit them to the Expatriates Affairs Department Offices of the Ministry of Interior.
6. Department’s officials will go through your renewal application and if everything is in order they will begin processing the Residence Permit renewal application.

   • All the required condition should be met before submitting the application form.
   • The department will not be responsible for any delay resulting from failure to meet these conditions.

7. The application process may take a period of two to four days to complete.
8. Once ready the applicant will be notified to visit the Expatriates Affairs Department Offices to be issued with the new renewed residency permit.

   • The renewed residence permit will be stamped in a passport containing the expired residency permit.

9. After your residence permit has been renewed issued, you will be able to make an application to renew your residence card.

Note:

• If you choose to stay and work in Qatar, your Qatari employer must renew your residence permit as required, every one to three years.
• Residents who are above 16 years should review at the Criminal Evidences and Information Department for fingerprinting.
• The identity cards will be valid for the period of the residence permit.

Apply Online

• The Ministry of Interior allows individuals and companies in Qatar to renew residence permit online for 1 to 3 years. The service is available for Qataris, residents and companies holding Qatari Smart ID Cards.

1. The first step is to log in with your smartcard to the e-services portal of the Ministry of Interior (MOI) by clicking on the MOI Services tab and selection the E-services option.
2. If you do not have an account with the MOI e-portal, you have to register for the services using your smart card.
3. Once logged in, click on "Residency Services” option on the dashboard then click on the “Renew Residency” link.
4. On the next page make either one of the following selections.

   • Renewal for individuals: select the QID number to be renewed (maximum five numbers at a time).

   OR

   • Renewal for companies: select the QID number to be renewed (maximum twenty numbers at a time), and click “Add”.

5. On the next page choose the renewal period for the selected Residence Permit.

   • Choose either one year or three years renewal period, and click “Next” button.

6. Review the renewal resident permit information to ensure that everything is okay.
7. If everything is okay specified where the new Residence Permit delivery option should be.
8. After this, pay the required due fees .using a debit or credit card.
9. After successful payment, a receipt will be shown to the applicant. Print the acknowledgement receipt for reference.
10. Your renewed Residence Permit will be delivered to your preferred location or you can pick it up from the MOI in a period of 3 -5 days.

• The service is available for Qataris, residents and companies holding Qatari Smart ID Cards.

Fees

• QR 500, for wife, children, and family sponsorships.
• QR 1000, for employees sponsored by companies, institutions and shops.
• QR 300, employees on personal sponsorships, servants, farmers and sailors.
• There is a 20% discount, in case of three-year renewal (for personal sponsorship, companies, wife, children and family sponsorship).
• An extra QR 20 to be paid in case of selecting Qatar Post for delivery.

Validity

• The permit is valid for one year or three years depending on the application.

Instructions

1. Residence Permits renewal can be made 3 months prior to the expiry date.
2. The system displays the RP rejection reason for any personal number in the "Status" box.
3. The applicant should select the method of receiving the new residence permit which is via Qatar Post-delivery.
4. The applicant will pay using the credit card for personal or companies' transactions. The delivery fees (if any) must be paid.
5. After successful payment, a receipt will be shown to the applicant.
