Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply to extend trademark protection period, applicant has to visit the Intellectual Property Rights Protection Department at the MOCI office.

3. Applicant has to visit the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) and obtain the application form from the respective officer.
4. Now complete the form with necessary information and make sure you have all the documents in hand that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. After filling the form, attach the documents mentioned in the required documents section below with the completed application form.
6. Check the application form and then submit it to the respective officer in the Intellectual Property Rights Protection Department in the MOCI office. The address is mentioned in the office locations & contacts section below.
7. Now the authorities will verify your application and validate the submitted documents.
8. After verification process, trademark protection period will be extended.

Eligibility

• Applicant who have registered trademark are eligible to extend.

Fees

• A fee of QR2025 applies to trademark renewal applications submitted within the last year of the trademark’s protection period.
• A fee of QR5025 applies to applications submitted within the six months following the last year of protection.

Instructions

• Applicant shall submit a request to the Intellectual Property Protection Department in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) to apply to extend trademark protection period.
• Any trademark owner who does not submit a renewal application by the end of the 10th year is entitled to a grace period of six months following the trademark’s expiry. Additional fees are required for late submissions.
