Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for group trademark registration, applicant has to visit the Intellectual Property Protection Department at the MOCI office.

3. Application form can be downloaded from the below link: Application form
4. Now complete the form with necessary information and Paste the logo of the trademark to be registered in the allocated space within the application form then make sure you have all the documents in hand that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. After filling the form, attach the documents mentioned in the required documents section below with the completed application form.
6. Check the application form and then submit it to the respective officer in the Intellectual Property Protection Department in Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) office. The address mentioned in the office locations & contacts section below.
7. Once the application is filed, the Industrial Property Protection officer inspects the trademark for its distinctiveness.
8. Signs that are found indistinguishable in the examination can be registered if it's distinctness is found later by use or if there is a registration in a foreign country.
9. If the authorities find any violations with the requirements of the Trademarks law, it shall deny or inflict restrictions on the proposed mark. The applicant shall be intimated about the decision made by IP office within 30 days from the date of filing the application.
10. The applicant must satisfy the constraints or recommendations within six months from the date of notification, else the application would be considered as abandoned.
11. The applicant is eligible for appealing against the restrictions imposed by the Trademark's office within a span of 60 days from the date of notification.
12. If the proposed trademark is approved, the Trademark's office shall disclose the mark in the official gazette for any third party to file an opposition.
13. If there's no third party to proclaim against the proposed trademark, the trademark shall be deemed as distinctive and approved for registration

• Four copies of logo or specimen.
• Copy of the certificate of incorporation.
• Copy of power of attorney.
• Official extract of the commercial register belonging to the owner of the trademark requiring registration.

Eligibility

• Natives engaged in any of the industrial, commercial, professional and service business.
• Foreigners engaged in any of the industrial, commercial, professional and service business in the state of Qatar or any other state having reciprocity of treatment with Qatar.
• Public Legal person and owners of well-known trademarks person can apply.

Fees

• A fee of QR1,000 applies.
  

Validity

• A trademark is valid for 10 years from the date of registration.

Instructions

• Application can be filled before going to registration office in Qatar.
• If a foreign applicant apply for group trademark registration, a local agent will apply instead of the applicant and a power of attorney legalized by Qatari consulate in the applicant’s country is must.
