ProcedureEdit
Apply In-Person:
- To Request for Analysis of Crude Protein in person, the applicant should contact the Mauritius Agricultural Services. Contact link
- Applicant must visit the Mauritius of Government website and download the application form from this link- link or Applicants should obtain the necessary application form from the authority.
- After downloading the application form as a PDF document, the applicant must ensure that all the necessary details on the required forms, including a sample submission form, laboratory request form, and/or chain of custody form are filled out completely.
- The forms will require details on the type of sample to be taken and the specific analysis that is needed.
- The applicant should Package the sample in a suitable container with appropriate labeling and include any necessary documents and which can be found under the” Required Documents” section of this page.
- Then the applicant needs to submit the completed application form with all the required documents to the MAS authority.
- The applicant must fill out a sample submission form, as well as any other relevant paperwork, and provide payment for the analysis.
- Applicants must pay any fee associated with the request for samples analysis and fee details can be found under the “Fees” section of this page.
- Once the forms are submitted, the MAS will arrange for a technician to proceed with the necessary steps.
- The laboratory will analyze the sample that will be sent to them.
- Then the applicant will take the sample to a qualified technician to determine the type of sample and its suitability for the project.
- The technician will then provide a report on the samples and their suitability for the proposed project.
- The applicant will use this information to decide whether to proceed with the project or not.
- If the applicant requires further assistance, they can contact the MAS offices for expert advice.
- The processing time for a sample analysis request is two to three weeks, depending on the complexity of the request.

InstructionsEdit
- All samples for analysis must be accompanied with a duly signed request for analysis. When the samples are submitted to the laboratory, the request for analysis should mention:
- the nature of the sample, e.g., soil, plant, water, feeds etc.
- the date of submission of the samples
- the number of samples
- the analysis to be carried out, i.e., the parameters to be determined (e.g., nitrogen or phosphorus in soil).
- Samples should be properly labelled and submitted in sufficient quantities and appropriate containers.
- Samples will be received in the laboratory on working days during 09.00 – 12.00 hrs and 13.00 – 15.00 hrs.
- Perishable items (e.g., fresh vegetables, fruits, leaves etc.) should not be sent on the afternoon of Fridays or on the eve of public holidays.
- Samples that are not in good condition to be analysed, that is, rotten or perished, will not be accepted for analysis.

- Quantity of sample
- Analysis method
- Sample preparation
- Delivery address
- Contact details
- Payment details
- Date of required analysis
Need for the DocumentEdit
- The purpose of the chemical analysis is to help the growers (planters) and farmers to determine the soil fertility status of their land, the suitability of water for irrigation, the mineral status of plants/leaves/vegetables and the nutritional value of the animal feed and fodder. The analyses also help in monitoring the presence of residues and contaminants in the agricultural products.
- The analysis of crude protein in Mauritius is important for a variety of reasons. It can help to monitor the quality of animal feed, which is essential for the health and productivity of Mauritius’s livestock. It can also be used to ensure that food products contain the nutrients they are supposed to contain, and are safe for human consumption.
- Finally, the analysis of crude protein can help to determine the efficacy of fertilizer products, which helps to ensure that Mauritius’s crops are getting the nutrients they need for optimal growth and yield.
Information which might helpEdit
- The Agricultural Chemistry Division (ACD) was founded in 1940. It was then known as the Chemical Division of the Department of Agriculture of the Colony of Mauritius. In 1955, the Chemical Division was restyled as the Agricultural Chemistry Division.
- The Agricultural Chemistry Division, located in Réduit, is a registered laboratory under the aegis of Ministry of Agro-Industry and Food Security.
- The Agricultural Chemistry Division provides services for chemical analysis of agricultural materials including water, soil, plants (vegetable and fruits), fertilisers, feed and fodder, compost, farm manure, nuts, maize (corn), rice, honey, fish and fish products for various parameters including nutritional composition, major & minor nutrients, residues and contaminants.
