Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for renewing an Airline Operating Permit in person, the applicant has to visit the office of Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

3. Visit the NCAA office with an application letter made in writing and duly signed by a person authorised by the applicant to request for renewal of Airline Operating Permit.
4. Obtain an application form for renewing an Airline Operating Permit from the relevant department.
5. Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. Complete the form as required with relevant details under respective sections. After completing the application form, attach the required documents with the completed form.
7. Pay the required non-refundable processing fee to the Authority as stipulated and also attach the receipt of payment with the application form.
8. Also, the applicant will be required to liaise with the Airport Service Providers and or Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) regarding approval of its home or operational base.
9. Then, proceed to submit the application and the required documents to the Director General at the office in person for further processes.
10. After submission, the completed form and corresponding documents will be put into further verification and validation processes.
11. Once all the processes get completed, the authorities will take the necessary steps for the permit issuance process.

Eligibility

• Any Airline Operating Permit holder, whose license has been expired and needs renewal, can apply.
• The applicant must have paid all the required fees, charges, fares and tariffs as stipulated by the NCAA.
  

Fees

• Non-refundable processing fee: N500,000.00
  
• After receiving the permit, an annual utilization fee of N100,000.00 should be paid.
  

Validity

The validity of a renewed AOP shall be three (3) years.

Instructions

• The application for the grant of AOP must contain the following Particulars: Name and address of applicant, Type of services to be provided, Number and types of aircraft to be utilized and proposed operational base of applicant.
• Evidence of utilization of Permit should indicate the following details: Number and type(s) of aircraft in use, Insurance of aircraft in use, including passenger, cargo and third party, Routes operated and Total number of passenger, cargo and mail carried during the period of operation of the expiring permit.

Need for the Document

Every Air Operating Permit obtained from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority needs renewal once its validity date has been arrived.

• On receipt of an application for an AOP, the Director-General may request additional information from the applicant as may be deemed necessary.
