Apply Online

  1. To apply Online FATCA Reporting, the applicant must visit the portal of Mauritius Revenue Authority Link
  2. The first step for the application process is Mauritius-based Financial Institutions (FIs) must register with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) of the United States and obtain a Global Intermediary Identification Number (GIIN) in order to comply with the relevant tax regulations.
  3. In case the applicant do not already have a GIIN, please apply for a GIIN on the IRS website at Link
  4. The second step for the application process is the applicant must Register with MRA to obtain a password to file FATCA Report - Mauritius-based FIs should register for FATCA Reporting with MRA through its online services.
  5. This process will enroll them for the FATCA online service and a password will be sent to them by post.
  6. The Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) provides a facility for registration in respect of FATCA on its website at link. (Or)
  7. This can be found under the "e-Services" section or by clicking the provided link at link to access the registration page.
  8. FIs based in Mauritius must submit their FATCA reporting data in XML format to the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) only through the MRA E-services and other documents can be found under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  9. To do this, log in to the MRA E-service using the GIIN from Step 1 as they username, and the password from Step 2. Then click on the link
  10. When submitting a FATCA report, applicants have the option to enable email alerts for reporting status, so that they can be notified via email when new notifications become available at MRA.
  11. After submitting the FATCA report, the applicant's browser will display an acknowledgment ID to confirm that the report has been received.
  12. If all the required documents and information are provided, the processing time could be around 7-10 days.


Note: The FATCA Notification Report provides information on the status of transmission and processing of each FATCA report to and by the IRS. Mauritius-based FIs that enabled email alerts for reporting status will receive notifications via email when new notifications are available on the MRA platform.

  • This system allows users to report their financial accounts to the MRA in accordance with the FATCA requirements.
