ProcedureEdit

Apply In Person

  1. To apply for a ‘B’ carrier license, the applicant should make the application to the National Land Transport Authority (NLTA). Please view the National Land Transport Authority contact details through this Contact details.
  2. Visit the National Land Transport Authority office and obtain the application form in person or download the form directly through this National Land Transport Authority website Application form.
  3. Read and complete the application form as required and then obtain all the required supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below and attach the documents to the filled application form in a single file.
  4. Then visit the National Land Transport Authority office and pay the application fee at the cashier’s office as mentioned in the “Fee” section below and obtain the payment receipt.
  5. Upon the application fee payment, submit the application to the National Land Transport Authority official at the service desk.
  6. The official will check if the application form is completed accordingly and if the applicant has provided the relevant supporting documents.
  7. If the application is complete, the applicant will be issued with the acknowledgment receipt and the application will be forwarded to the National Land Transport Authority license officials for evaluation.
  8. If the application is successful, the applicant will be informed of the approval and required to pay the license fee.
  9. Upon payment of Rs 300 or Rs 700 depending on whether the applicant wishes to have the license for a period of one or three years, the license will then be issued to the applicant.

Required DocumentsEdit

The Following listed 2 documents are to be carried by all applicants.

  • National Identity Card.
  • Letter from the company, if vehicle-related to company.


For Small Planter

  • Registered title deed or leasehold certificate (original + 1 photocopy)
  • A certificate from one of the following bodies
    • Sugar Insurance Fund Board (sugar cane plantation)
    • Tea Board (tea plantation)
    • Small Planters Welfare Fund (vegetable cultivation)
    • Tobacco Board ( tobacco cultivation)
    • Agricultural Research and Extension Unit (AREU) (flower cultivation)


Note: Owners should have been planters for at least one year. Lessees should have been planters for at least two years.


For a Breeder

  • A certificate from the Agricultural Research.
  • A certificate from the Extension Unit (AREU).


For Small Entrepreneur

  • A registration certificate from the Small Enterprises and Handicraft Development Authority (SEHDA).
  • A receipt of payment or trade license from the appropriate Local Authority for the activity undertaken.
  • Documentary evidence of having been in the activity for at least 2 years.
  • Documentary evidence of being an employer of at least five persons in the activity and proof of NPF contribution in respect of these employees for at least two years.


For Fisherman

  • Certificate of the registration form from the Fisheries Division of the Ministry of Agro Industry and Fisheries certifying that he is involved in the net or lagoon fishing.

EligibilityEdit

Applicants should meet the following eligibility criteria:
For Small Planter

  • 5 arpents of sugar cane or tea.
  • One arpent full stand or 2 arpents interline in vegetable cultivation.
  • One arpent of fruits or tobacco.
  • Half arpent in flowers cultivation.


For a Breeder

  • A breeder should have a minimum herd of 10 cattle or 20 goats or pigs or sheep.



FeesEdit

  • The application fee is Rs. (MUR) 300.
  • The license is Rs.(MUR) 300 for a license valid for one year and Rs. (MUR) 700 for a license valid of three years.

  • The license is valid for one or three years.
