Mauritius - Obtain Conductor Licence

Apply In Person

  1. To apply for the Conductor’s license, you should make your application to the National Land Transport Authority (NLTA). Please view the National Land Transport Authority contact information through this Contact details.
  2. Call at the NTA Head Office; Conductors’ counter to schedule a suitable date for making your application for the license.
  3. Then obtain the application form for the license in person at the National Land Transport Authority office or download the form through the National Land Transport Authority website National Land Transport Authority Downloads (Scroll down to find “Download Application Form to obtain a Conductor's Licence”). You can also download the form directly through this Application Form
  4. Read and complete the form as required and then prepare all the required supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below and attach the documents to the application form.
  5. Then visit the National Land Transport Authority office of the date scheduled and submit your application to the National Land Transport Authority official at the Conductors’ counter.
  6. The official will verify your application to confirm if the application form is completed correctly and if you have provided all the required documents.
  7. Upon verification, if your application is correct, you will be issued a copy of regulations governing the duties of a conductor.
  8. Study and master the regulations governing the duties of a conductor and after few days, you will be called by the National Land Transport Authority to undergo a written examination to assess your knowledge of regulations.
  9. Visit the National Land Transport Authority office and complete the written examination and then National Land Transport Authority will assess your knowledge through the written exams.
  10. If you pass the written exams, you will be convened for a briefing session.
  11. Then pay the fees for the conductor’s license and the badge at the cashier's office as mentioned in the “Fees” section below.
  12. Upon payment, you will be issued your badge and license within 14 days.

  • Mauritius citizens of legal age are eligible to apply.

  • The application is Rs (MUR) 200 for the badge and Rs (MUR) 200 for a license.

  • The license is valid for one year and it is eligible for renewals after one year.
