Mauritius - Obtain a Fire Safety Plan

Apply In Person

  1. To apply for a Fire Safety Plan, an applicant should make the application to the Mauritius Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS), Head office, or at any fire station branch office. Please view the fire station's location and contact details through this Contact Details.
  2. Obtain the application form for the Fire Safety Plan at the customer care office of the Mauritius Fire and Rescue Service at any of the fire station offices, applicants can also collect the form at the One Stop Shop MyBiz (Pope Hennessey Street Port Louis). Alternatively, you can download the form directly through this Application form.
  3. Read the form and complete it as required. Note that you should check the appropriate boxes in section one of the application form.
  4. Upon completing the form, gather and prepare the required documentation for the application and attach the documents to the form in a single file.
  5. Then visit the head office or any other fire station branch office with the application file.
  6. Then submit the application file to the official at the service desk.
  7. The official will verify the application to check if the form is completed as required and if all the documents are attached. Note that incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  8. After the verification process, the application will be forwarded to the Mauritius Fire and Rescue Service chief fire officer/authorized official for further assessment and approval.
  9. The application will be evaluated by the Mauritius Fire and Rescue Service chief fire officer/authorized official and if it meets all the required standards, the application will be approved.
  10. The applicant will then be notified of the approval and required to pay the requisite approval fee.
  11. Upon payment of the required fee as mentioned in the “fees” section below, the fire safety plan will be processed and issued to the applicant.

EligibilityEdit

Individuals and Companies who want to construct the following:

  • Residential premises exceeding 7 stories.
  • Commercial premises.
  • Industrial premises.
  • Premises where explosives are used or stored and which require a license under the Explosives Act.
  • Premises where highly inflammable liquid or gas or dangerous chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or hazardous materials are used or stored.
  • Any other premises other than those specified in items 1 to 3 to which the public has access.
