Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for choosing your business structure in Mauritius, applicant will need to go through the Registrar of Companies Division link
  2. The Registrar of Companies Division in Mauritius is the government agency responsible for registering businesses in the country.
  3. If they are planning on starting a business in Mauritius, applicant must register their business with the Registrar of Companies Division.
  4. The process of registering a business includes choosing an appropriate name for their business.
  5. When choosing a business name in Mauritius, there are certain rules and regulations that must be followed.
  6. The Registrar of Companies Division requires that the name of the business be unique, distinguishable from other businesses in the same field, and must not be offensive or contrary to public policy.
  7. The name must also include the type of business and should not include any words that suggest the business is connected to the government or any government agency.
  8. In addition to these requirements, the Registrar of Companies Division also recommends avoiding the use of words or phrases that could be considered trademarked or copyrighted. The name should also not be like a name that is already registered with the Registrar of Companies Division.
  9. When registering their business name with the Registrar of Companies Division, applicant must also submit a name search form which can be obtained from the Registrar of Companies Division. link
  10. Applicants will need to fill out the name search form.
  11. If name is available, payment should be made within 1 week after submission of application for the issue of notice of reservation of name. A fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
  12. The applicant will need to provide the details of the proposed name of the business and the nature of the business.
  13. The application form will need to be signed by the authorized representative of the company.
  14. The application form along with the required documents will need to be submitted to the Registrar of Companies Division and they can be found under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  15. The Registrar of Companies Division will review the application and verify the proposed name of the business and the documents submitted.
  16. Once the review is completed the Registrar of Companies Division will provide a Certificate of Incorporation which will include the approved name of the business.
  17. The Certificate of Incorporation will be the formal confirmation of the approved name of the business.
  18. Generally, it can take anywhere from one to three weeks for the application to be processed and approved.


Apply Online:

  1. Applicant must Visit the Mauritius Registrar Of Companies Division website link
  2. Applicants can Click on "Company Registration" located on the top right of the page link
  3. Applicant can then Click on “Search for a Company Name” under “Company Registration”.
  4. Applicant can enter the name of the business they would like to register and click on “Search”.
  5. If the name is available, the applicant can proceed to the next step by clicking on “Reserve this name”.
  6. The applicant must pay the registration fee to the Registrar Of Companies Division before their business name can be officially registered.
  7. Applicants can then fill out the form to reserve their business name and click on “Submit”.
  8. After submitting the form, the applicant will be given a confirmation page.
  9. The applicant must print the confirmation page and submit it to the Mauritius Registrar Of Companies Division with the relevant documents.
  10. The applicant will then receive an email from the Registrar Of Companies Division with their reserved business name.
  11. The applicant will receive a certificate from the Registrar Of Companies Division confirming the registration of their business name via email.
  12. The applicant can finally start using their registered business name for legal purposes.
