Apply In-Person:
- To Apply for Survey in person, the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Housing and Land Use Planning in Mauritius Contact link
- Contact the Ministry of Housing and Land Use Planning to obtain the necessary application forms and paperwork.
- The application must include the details of the land to be leased, the purpose for which it is to be used, and the proposed duration of the lease.
- Applicants will need to provide documentation to the Ministry, including a detailed plan of the land and a description of the proposed use of the land and they can be found under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- This can be done by submitting a written application to the Ministry of Housing and Land Use Planning.
- The Ministry will review their application and decide whether to grant the lease. The Ministry may also require additional information or documents.
- Once the lease is approved, he/she will need to pay the applicable fee. The fee may vary depending on the size and type of land being leased, as well as the intended use of the land. This invoice should be paid promptly to secure the lease and they can be found under the “Fees” section of this page.
- In some cases, the Ministry may require a security deposit to be paid in advance. This security deposit will be refunded to the applicant, minus any deductions, when the lease period ends.
- Finally, the applicant should be aware that the Ministry may terminate the lease at any time if the terms of the lease are not being complied with.
- Generally, it takes between 2-4 weeks for the Ministry of Housing and Land Use Planning to process a request for the lease of state land in Mauritius.

In Mauritius, anyone who wishes to lease state land must apply to the Ministry of Housing and Land Use Planning and must meet the following criteria:
- Applicant must be a Mauritian citizen or a registered business entity in the country.
