ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for the scholarship for local applications, the applicant should make the application to the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science, and Technology. Please view the Ministry’s contact details through this link: Contact details.
  2. Obtain the application form from the ministry’s office or download the application form from the ministry of education website: Application forms (find “Local Application Form for Scholarships”).
  3. Read the provided information and complete the application accordingly.
    Note: Incomplete, Inaccurate, or inadequate filling of the form may lead to the application being disqualified.
  4. Prepare all the required supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents “ section below and attach the documents to the application form in a single file.
  5. Then submit the complete application for free to the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology at this address: 1st Floor, IVTB House, Pont Fer, Phoenix.
  6. Upon receipt of the application, the ministry of education through the department of the scholarship will verify the application.
  7. After the verification process, the responsible verifying officer will complete the official’s section of the form and give his/her remarks regarding the application and forward the application for processing.
  8. The applicant will then be informed by the ministry of the outcome of the application and if the application is accepted, the applicant will be directed on how to receive the funds.


Apply Online

  1. Applicants can apply for the Scholarship online by visiting the Mauritius government website (E-services portal) through this link: - E-services portal
  2. On the E-service page, scroll down the page and select “3” to go to page three of the portal.
  3. On the page, scroll to find “Application for Scholarships” and click on the hyperlink to go to the sign-in page.
  4. Then the applicant should enter his/her username and password to sign in if he/she already has an account and if the applicant is not a registered user, the applicant should click on the “Register (new user)” hyperlink to go to the registration page.
  5. Read the data protection information and click on the “Accept” button to proceed to the next page.
  6. Confirm the citizenship by either clicking on the “Yes” or “No” button to go to the next page.
  7. For citizens, the applicant will be required to enter his/her name and the NIC number and for non-citizens, the applicant will be required to enter his/her name and passport number then click on the “Next” button to proceed to the next page.
  8. On this page, the applicant should enter his/her user name and password and then click on the “Next” button to go to the next page.
  9. Enter the applicant’s email address and then click on the “ Send OTP” button.
  10. The applicant will be sent an OTP code through his/her mail address, enter the OTP code in the “Insert OTP” box and click on the “Next” button to continue.
  11. Once the applicant has completed creating his/her account, go to the E-service portal and find “ Application for Scholarships” on page 3 and click on the hyperlink to go to the sign-in page.
  12. Enter the applicant’s credentials and login and the applicant will be directed to the application form for the scholarship.
  13. Complete the application form correctly and print it, then attach all the required supporting documents to the application form.
  14. Then submit the complete application to the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology at this address: 1st Floor, IVTB House, Pont Fer, Phoenix.
  15. Upon receipt of the application, the ministry of education through the department of the scholarship will verify the application.
  16. After the verification process, the responsible verifying officer will complete the “for Official Use” section and give his/her remarks regarding the application and forward the application for processing.
  17. The applicant will then be informed by the ministry of the outcome of the application and if the application is accepted, the applicant will be directed on how to receive the funds.

  • Complete application form.
  • Birth certificate.
  • Certificates/ result slips/ transcripts of results/ mark sheets of all applicable academic. qualifications, e.g., SC, HSC, Baccalaureate, Diploma, Degree, result slip, and any other relevant documents.
  • A write-up/letter of motivation of about 100 – 150 words concerning the first choice of study (candidates applying for scholarships in Francophone countries should submit their write-up/letter of motivation in the French language).

EligibilityEdit

You should meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants should be above 18 years of age and should not have reached their 26th birthday at the closing date of application for undergraduate programs (Diploma/Degree).
  • For Master’s programs, applicants should not have reached 35 years and,
  • For Ph.D. programs, applicants should not have reached 45 years by the closing date of application.
  • Applicants must have applied for full-time on-campus studies at any public Tertiary Education Institution in Mauritius for the academic year.
  • The scholarship will be for a maximum of four (4) years or the minimum course duration whichever is lesser.


Qualification entry requirements:

  • Candidates should have completed end of secondary school to be eligible and should satisfy the minimum grade requirements as indicated below:
  • 24 points at GCE A – Level which will be computed based on the following grades obtained in three Principal subjects: A+=10, A=9, B=8, C=7, D=6 & E=5; OR
  • at least an overall average of 70% or an overall average of, 14/20; OR
  • Criteria are equivalent to (i) or (ii) above.
  • In case the language of instruction is not English in the qualifying examination, the candidate will have to provide valid TOEFL or IELTS test results with a minimum score not less than 550 or 5.5 respectively, or appropriate proof of English Language proficiency.
  • Candidates who are already holders of an undergraduate degree will NOT be eligible under this scholarship scheme.
  • Self-financing candidates already studying in Mauritius, will NOT be eligible under this Scholarship scheme.
