Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for registering as a Capital Market Consultant (SEC)in person, the applicant has to visit the office of the Securities & Exchange Commission.
2. The address and contact details of the SEC can be found in the following link: Link
3. Visit the office and obtain an application form for registration of a Capital Market Consultant (SEC)from the respective department. Or click here to download: Link
4. Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
5. Complete the application form with required details and information under respective sections.
6. Attach the required documents with the completed application form and submit it to the relevant official at the office.
7. Pay the required registration and filing fees by following the instructions of the officials.
8. After submission, your application along with the attached documents will be forwarded for further verifications.
9. Once all the internal processes are over, the application will be approved and the applicant will be notified through phone or email regarding the approval.
10. Meanwhile, the applicant can also check with the office regarding the progress of the application.
11. When the registration instrument is ready to be collected, the applicant can collect it by any means from the office.

• Separate schedule of securities owned by the applicant
• Certificate of Incorporation copy
• Memorandum and Article of Association/Partnership Deed certified by the Corporate Affair Commission copy

Eligibility

• Any organisational entity, that wishes to offer services of Capital Market Consulting, can apply.
• The applying entity must have at least three sponsored Individuals, one of whom shall be a compliance officer.

Fees

Registration fee: N50,000.00
Sponsored individuals fee: N10,000.00
Application fee: N5,000

Validity

The registration is usually valid for one year.

• Form SEC 2 should be completed in duplicate by every individual seeking registration from the Securities and Exchange Commission as a Sponsored Individual.
• Any reference to the “Act” in the application form relates to the Investments and Securities Act No.29 of 2007 and the Rules and Regulations made there under.
• Two recent passport size photographs with full face, bearing at the back, the name and signature of the applicant should be attached with the application form.
