Apply In Person
- To apply for a Passport, the applicant should make the application to the Passport and Immigration office. Please view the Passport and Immigration office contact information through this link: contact details.
- Obtain the application Form (PF136), either at the Passport and Immigration main office or the Sub offices or Any Police Station in Mauritius or at the nearest Mauritius Embassy or Consulate Office (in case the applicant is in abroad). The applicant can also download the application form directly through this link: Application form.
- Read the notes provided in the application form carefully and complete the application form accurately in capital letters with a black ink pen.
- Then gather and prepare all the required supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below and attach the documents to the filled application form in a single file.
- Go to the Passport and Immigration office and pay the prescribed application fee at the cashier’s office and obtain the payment receipt.
- Then go to the passport processing unit and submit the application dossier including the payment receipt to the Passport and Immigration official at the service desk.
- The official will verify the application form and check if all the required supporting documents have been attached and if the application dossier meets the required merits, then the official will complete the section for official use only.
- Upon approval of the application, the applicant will be referred to the next stage where their biometric data will be collected procedurally.
- The applicant will then be issued with the acknowledgment receipt of their application with details on when and how to collect the new passport.
- The passport will be processed and on the recommended date in receipt, the applicant should visit the Passport and Immigration office.
- At the office,the applicant should go to the collection desk and provided their identification document along with the acknowledgment receipt for verification.
- After the verification, the new passport will be issued to the applicant.
Application From Abroad
- To apply for a new passport from abroad, the applicant should make the application to the nearest Mauritius Embassy/Consulate Office. Please view the Mauritius Embassy/Consulate contact details through this link Mauritius Diplomatic Missions Overseas.
- Obtain the passport application form from the nearest Mauritius Embassy/Consulate Office or download the application form directly through this link Application form.
- Read the notes provided in the application form carefully and complete the application form accurately in capital letters with a black ink pen.
- Then gather and prepare all the required supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below and attach the documents to the filled application form in a single file.
- Then visit the Mauritius Embassy/Consulate Office and pay the passport application fee and submit the application to the servicing official.
- The Mauritius Embassy/Consulate Office will then inform you the applicant on how you will proceed with the passport application.
- Eventually, the application will be processed and a new passport will be issued to you the applicant.

- Birth Certificate.
- Certificate of Foreign Citizenship or Residence Permit Abroad (where applicable)
- Certificate of Mauritius Citizenship in case applicant acquired nationality through Registration / Naturalization / Adoption (where applicable).
- Two recent identical photos (passport size) taken against a light background.
- Certificate from Police in case of loss passport (where applicable).
- Any additional documents as applicable.
Adult

- Mauritius National Identity Card.
- Marriage Certificate (where applicable).
- Divorce Decree (where applicable).
- Birth Certificate of Mauritian parent (if applicant born abroad).

Note
- A married person applying for a passport on ‘Joint Name’ will be issued on the surname at birth followed by Spouse Name (without hyphen).
Minor
- Birth certificate of parents.
- Mauritius National Identity Card of parents/guardians.
- Passport of parent(s) (Applicable to Non-Citizen of Mauritius only).
- Marriage Certificate of parents (where applicable).
- Certificate of Foreign Citizenship or Residence Permit of parent(s) (where applicable).
- Certificate of Mauritius Citizenship of parent(s) (where applicable).
- Judge’s Order (where applicable).
Note:
Foreign Court Order, where applicable, to be apostilled or legalized or authenticated.
A Person whose name has been changed abroad otherwise than by marriage
- Documentary evidence of change of name.
- Amended Birth Certificate of applicant.
Note:
- Originals of all documents should be produced for verification.
- All required documents should be in either English or French language (Documents in other languages should be translated by a registered sworn translator and if same made abroad, the document to be, where applicable, apostilled or legalized or authenticated).

EligibilityEdit
- All Citizens of Mauritius, either by: Birth, Descent, Adoption, Registration, or Naturalization are eligible for a Mauritius Passport, provided that they satisfy all conditions as prescribed by law.
FeesEdit
Application fee for New Passport:
- Adult & Young Person: Rs 700.
- Minor (of age below 16 years): Rs 400.
- Senior Citizen (of age 55 years and above): Rs 400.
- Disable person (To produce a certificate from the Ministry of Social Security): Rs 400.
ValidityEdit
- Children under 16 years of age will be issued a passport valid for five years. Young persons between 16 to 18 years will be issued a passport valid for ten years.
