Apply In-Person:
SINGLE CERTIFICATE
- To apply for Single Certificate in person, the applicant has to visit the office of the Ministry of Interior or Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

- Initially, the applicant has to depose to an affidavit of his/her Single status with respect to the applicant’s gender.
- If the certificate is to be used inside the Republic, the applicant should visit the Ministry of Interior and in the other case, the applicant should the visit the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
- Visit the respective office with the affidavit and other documents as mentioned in the “Required documents” section of this page.
- Approach the relevant department as directed by the person in-charge present there and submit the affidavit for attestation.
- Produce the required documents as per the demand of the relevant authority. The officer will go through the affidavit and verify the submitted documents.
- If the affidavit is found satisfactory and the documents are found in order, the application will be approved and the attestation will be done as per the applicant’s request.
AGE DECLARATION
- To apply for Age Declaration in person, the applicant should visit the office of the High Court of Justice in Nigeria.

- Visit the High Court and obtain an Application form for Age Declaration from the relevant department.
- Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
- Complete the application form with the details as required in the respective fields and attest it with your signature. Attach the required documents with the form.
- Then, submit it to the relevant official in the court and pay the required fees as directed by the officials.
- After submission, the documents will be forwarded for further verification and validation processes.
- Once all the processes get completed, the applicant will be issued with the age declaration certificate.

- Any person in Nigeria, who wishes to prove his/her Single status for any of the stipulated purposes, can apply.
- Any person in Nigeria, who does not have a Birth certificate and wants to obtain one, can apply.
- The person applying must have a valid proof of Identification.

- It is important that the completed form must contain all the information required properly and the form must be filled legibly, in order to get accepted by the Authority.
- Make sure that you attach all the required documents as specified by the authority to avoid rejections.
- Age declaration applicants must include the statement indicating the non-existence of the NPC during his/her birth, in the application form.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- Any person in Nigeria, who wishes to prove his/her single status for the purpose of marriage, he/she must obtain a sworn affidavit from the Ministry of Interior/Foreign Affairs.
- Any person in Nigeria, who does not have a Birth Certificate because of non-existence of the National Population Commission during his/her birth, must obtain an Age Declaration from the High Court when applying for a Birth Certificate.
