Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for obtaining Clearance Certificate to Import Electricity (Power) Generation Set and Related Matters in person, the application has to make an application to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.

3. Visit the office with an application made in writing in a manner as specified by the Commission.
4. The Commission will also require you to complete an application form for obtaining Clearance Certificate to Import Electricity (Power) Generation Set and Related Matters from the relevant department.
5. The application form can be found in the 7th page of the following document application form
6. Application form can also be obtained from the Commission office.
7. Complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections. The application should be signed and dated by the applicant.
8. Make sure that you have attached all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
9. Then, the application along with the required documents should be submitted at the Commission’s corporate headquarters.
10. The required fees amount for the processing of the applicationshould be paid by means of a bank draft in the name of NERC.
11. On successful submission and completion of payment, the applicant will be issued with an acknowledgement slip.
12. Within a specified period of time, the commission will evaluate the application and it may require the applicant to provide any additional information, if necessary.
13. In case if the application is complete, it will be considered for the issuance of the fund/subsidy and the applicant will be notified by the Commission after a specified period of time, from the date of the application regarding the clearance.

Eligibility

• Any organization which involves importation of Electricity (Power) Generation Set and Related Matters, can apply.
• Any responsible person of the applicant company is eligible to make an application.

Fees

Fees payable with respect to the Size of Generator can be found below:

• 0.45-2.5 KVA - N150.00 Per Unit
• >2.5-5 KVA - N250.00 Per Unit
• >5-25 KVA - N1000.00 Per Unit
• >25-100 KVA - N3500.00 Per Unit
• >100 KVA - 25,000.00 Per Unit

Validity

The Certificate is valid for a period of six months.
