ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person

  1. After finding out about the death, the doctor of the hospital, clinic or CESCOM fills out a death certificate or a death declaration which is registered by the structure where the death occurs and given to the user.
  2. The declarant/ applicant should then visit the Town hall where he/she reside, office responsible for the burial permit with the declaration of death issued by the doctor of the hospital, clinic or CESCOM where the death took place.
  3. The officer of the burial permit office registers the declaration of death and issues it on site, a registration number as well as the (1st part) of the burial permit.
  4. The declarant gives the (1st part) of the burial permit to the person in charge of the cemetery who authorizes him to proceed with the burial.
Note: The burial permit and registration number issued by the burial permit office should be kept safe as there are required when processing the death certificate.

No fees associate with the processing and issue of the permit

ValidityEdit

The burial permit is valid until the burial takes place. Then it loses its validity.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • One need a burial permit in Mali in order to bury/cremate a body in Mali.
  • No person shall bury, cremate or otherwise dispose a body of any deceased person unless it is registered which is compulsory and obtain a burial/death permit issued in accordance with the Births, Marriage and Deaths Registration Act.
