Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for change of a Business name in person, the applicant has to visit the office of the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria.

3. Visit the office and obtain a Notice of Change in Business names – Form CAC/BN/2 as required from the relevant department. Or click here to download: Link
4. Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
5. Now, complete the form with appropriate information under relevant sections. Attest it with your signature once completed.
6. Then, pay the applicable fees as directed to the relevant bank account. Find the information regarding payment in the office website or contact the office.
7. After paying the fees, attach all the required documents with the completed application and submit it to the relevant official at the office.
8. Then, the application will be forwarded to the concerned authorities for further verification processes.
9. Once the verification and validation processes are over, the application will be approved and the officials will proceed to take required steps for the Change of Business name.
10. After completion of all required processes, the applicant will be notified to visit the office and issued with the changed Business name.

• Previously issued Certificate of Incorporation
• Attestation from relevant authority (in case if signatory is a minor)

Eligibility

• Any registered company in Nigeria which already holds a registered name and wishes to change its business name can apply.
  

Fees

• The application processing costs N5000.00

Instructions

• It is important that the completed form must contain all the information required properly and the form must be filled legibly, in order to get accepted by the Authority.
• On receiving your application, the CAC will advertise the notice of Business name change in its official Gazette if the application and all the documents attached are found in order.
• In case if there are no objections for the notice, the Commission will approve your application and issue a new Certificate of Incorporation.

Need for the Document

• If a Nigerian Business owner wishes to change the name of his/her business which is already registered, he/she must properly notify the Corporate Affairs Commission and obtain a new Incorporation Cartificate.
