Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for an Ordinary Driving Permit in person, the person who needs the license should visit the nearest Driver’s License Centre (DLC).
2. The address and contact details of the Driver’s License Centres can be found in the link below: Link
3. Get the application form for Ordinary Driving Permit which will be available at the Driving License Centre.
4. Please make sure that you have all the documents with you that are mentioned in the “Required documents” section of this page, when you visit the DLC.
5. Fill all the required details. Also mention the category under which you need license.
6. Please pay the prescribed fees along with the submission of application form and other documents as directed by the officials.
7. Revisit the DLC for driving test and other verification processes, an FRSC officer will capture your Biometric data at the office. You can obtain a temporary license that can be used until you get your ordered license card from the office.
8. Once your license is completely ready for issuance, you will get prior intimation after which you can visit the office and collect the license card.

1. To apply for an Ordinary Driving Permit online, the applicant must visit the following link: Link
2. Click the link given above and in the page that opens, click “Apply Now” button under ‘Apply New’ tab. A dialogue with two license options will appear, click on the option that you wish to obtain license for.
3. Answer appropriately the question which will be asked further and proceed. Online application form will get opened with relevant tabs.
4. Complete all the tabs by filling the required details and click “Next” button. Provide the details asked for as applicable, upload the required documents and complete the application by making the necessary payment.
5. Make a hard copy of your completed application, visit the DLC and present the application form along with the documents as required by the Board of Internal Revenue and Vehicle Inspection Officer.
6. Driving test and other verification processes will take place at the Driving License Centre.
7. Then, an FRSC officer will capture your Biometric data at the office. You can obtain a temporary license that can be used until you get your ordered license card from the office.
8. Once your license is completely ready for issuance, you will get prior intimation after which you can visit the office and collect the license card.

Eligibility

• Any person living in Nigeria, who wants to obtain an Ordinary Driving Permit, can apply.
• The person applying for driving license should possess a valid and unexpired learner’s license.
• The applicant must possess a valid National Identification Card.

Class A
3 years – N3000.00
5 years – N5000.00


Other classes 3 years – N6000.00
5 years – N10000.00

Validity

• License can be issued with a validity of 3 to 5 years.

Instructions

• Applicants are advised to complete the application form neatly and completely with absolute legibility and appropriateness to avoid rejections. Also, all the required documents must be furnished completely.
• You will have to bring with you the completed application form or the temporary license card when you visit to collect the issued license card.
• Payment for the new licence can either be made online on the application Portal at or at any of the participating banks.
