Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for energy audit in person, the applicant has to visit the National Centre for Energy Efficiency and Conservation in the Energy Commission of Nigeria.
2. The address and contact details can be found in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page.
3. Visit the office and approach the relevant authority to apply for an energy audit.
4. Ask them for the prescribed format to apply for the energy audit. Authorities over there will guide you accordingly.
5. Do as instructed and complete the application format prescribed. Make sure that you have all the documents mentioned in the “Required documents” section of this page.
6. Submit the documents and completed application format to the relevant authority at the office.
7. Pay the amount of fees required for the application and audit process, as instructed by the officials.
8. After successful payment, the application and attached documents will be forwarded for various verification processes.
9. On receipt of the application, the centre will organise an energy audit which includes identifying and quantifying areas of energy wastage within the organisation’s activities.
10. Once the audit has been done appropriately, the applicant will be informed through email or phone to collect the result of the audit.
11. Meanwhile, he/she can also check with the office they applied, for the progress of application.

Any organisation in Nigeria, that wishes to perform energy consumption monitoring, and electric power quality analysis within its activities, can apply for an energy audit.

An Energy Audit or Review is an investigation of all dimensions of an organisation’s historical and current energy use with the objective of identifying and quantifying areas of energy wastage within the organisation’s activities. Energy Audit involves taking inventory of energy consumption, and energy expenditure with the goal to identify opportunities to minimize energy wastage, and in turn energy expenditure.
