ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship in person, the applicant should approach the office of the Federal Scholarship Board of Nigeria.
  2. The contact and address details can be found in the following Link
  3. Visit the office and inform the person in-charge that you want to apply for Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship.
  4. The application process is online and the official over there will help you in completing the online application.
  5. Make sure that you have all the documents listed in “Required documents” section of this page.
  6. Once the application has been completedand submitted, the applicant may be provided with a receipt of application.
  7. The application and provided documents will be putinto further verification and validation processes by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.
  8. If all the documents are found in order and your request meets the eligibility criteria set by the Commission, the application will be approved and the applicant will informed about the approval through phone or email.
  9. After that, the board will instruct the applicant regarding the further processes and tasks to be accomplished by him/her.
  10. Required interview and verification processes will be conducted. On successful completion of all the required tasks, the applicant will be granted the scholarship/fellowship.

  1. To apply for Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship online, the applicant has to visit the following Link
  2. Visit the link and scroll down in the page that opens and find the country search bar.
  3. Click the drop-down and click ‘Nigeria’, then click “search” button. Available Scholarships and fellowships will be listed out.
  4. If you want to read the description, other information and apply for a particular scholarship/fellowship, click “Read more” button.
  5. Page with relevant information will appear. You can get an idea about the offer, eligibility criteria to apply and process of the application over there.
  6. Go through the information available, and click “How to apply” button to get more details on eligible courses and the corresponding university contact details.
  7. The online application link will also be available there. Locate and click on it to get the application form.
  8. Complete the application form by following online instructions and filling the required detail with full correctness.
  9. Provide information such as personal information, ethnicity and your originality, academic information and other required information as required.
  10. After providing required information, upload the required documents (if required) by following on-screen instructions.
  11. Once completed the application, submit it by clicking the applicable button. You may be sent an email regarding the confirmation of the application submission.
  12. The application and provided documents will be putinto further verification and validation processes by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.

EligibilityEdit

  • The applicant must be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person.
  • He/she should be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country and be available to start your academic studies in the UK, or remotely if required, by the start of the UK academic year in September/October 2021.
  • He/she should hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) standard, or a second class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree).
  • He/she should not have studied or worked for one (academic) year or more in a high income country.
  • The applicant should be economically insufficient to afford to study at a UK university without this scholarship/fellowship.
NOTE: Eligibility Criteria may vary depending upon the scholarship/fellowship plan you choose.

  • Each participating UK University will conduct its own recruitment process to select a specified number of candidates to be awarded Commonwealth Scholarships.
