Nigeria - Apply for Biometric Passport

To apply for a Biometric Passport online, the applicant must visit the Nigerian Immigration Portal by clicking the following link: apply online
In the page that opens, click on the “Passport” tab and find the category of Passport that you want to obtain and click the “Apply” button below that. Application form to obtain that particular category of the passport will be opened.
Fill out all the fields of the form with relevant details as required by following on-screen instructions and clicking applicable buttons.
Once completed, click “Submit Application” button to submit it and it will redirect you to Payments page. Opt an applicable payment and complete the payment by following on-screen directions.
After payment, your application lodgement will be over and you will be provided with application and payment reference numbers.
Then, you have to take all the documents required to be submitted for the type of Passport that you have completed online application and visit the Passport office that you chose during the online application.
Visit the office and submit the required documents to the relevant authority in the office. After submission, the submitted applications and attached documents will put forth for verification and validation.
After checking and finding that the requirements have been furnished properly, the officials will proceed to perform further required actions.
Once all the necessary processes are over and Passport document is ready for collection, you will be notified and asked to collect the document.

Proof of Marriage (if applicable)
Appointment letter or letter of recent promotion
Receipt of Acknowledgment
Payment receipt
Recent photographs in passport size (two numbers)
Nigerian standard Passport Data page’s Photocopy (guarantor)
Driving License or National Identity Card (guarantor)
Document containing applicant’s National Identification Number

Any citizen or non-resident of Nigeria who wants to obtain a Biometric Passport can apply.
Any person who already possesses a Nigerian Passport (obtained without biometric) can also apply.

InstructionsEdit

Applicants are advised to follow the note under each field and carefully complete the application as per the instructions.

After receiving the applications, applicants whose passports are more than six months old will be asked to appear at the corresponding passport office for capturing photograph and Biometric data.

Need for the DocumentEdit

E-passport booklets which were in circulation for Nigerian Republicans have been replaced by the new Enhanced e-passports for the purpose of extending validity and improving features that were present earlier.

Information which might helpEdit

The Enhanced E-Passport is part of the new reforms approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria. It is a product of intensive review of the existing e-passport booklet which has been in circulation for over 10 years and has only 5-year validity.
There is option for adults to pick from any of the three categories of passports. However, young children of less than 18 years age, have the option of choosing between categories 5-years passport only.
10-year validity passport is not for persons below 18 years based on ICAO specifications and due to expected change in their physical appearance.
