EligibilityEdit
- The applicant must be 21 years of age and above on the day of the application
- The applicant has resided in the federation for a period of not less than 10 years in a period of 12 years, including the 12 months immediately preceding the date of application
- Must reside permanently in the federation
- Must be of good character
- Must have adequate knowledge of the Malay language
- Must be sponsored by two referees who are citizens aged 21 years and above and who are not relatives, not hired persons, and not advocates or solicitors to the applicant

- Application fee - RM 10.00
- Fee for the issuance of Citizenship Certificate for applicants residing in the federation on Independence Day, 31 August 1957 (if approved) - RM 200.00
- Fee for the issuance of Citizenship Certificate for applicants not residing in the federation on Independence Day, 31 August 1957 (if approved) - RM 300.00
