Malawi - Obtain Permit to Export Reserved Mineral

ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person

  1. Start by sending the mineral(s) to the department of Geological Survey (P.O Box 27, Zomba)
  2. The geological survey department will measure its mass and description and packs it in a sealed parcel, clearly make on the parcel your names, address and particulars of the mineral as certified by the department.
  3. Then visit the Ministry of Natural Resources Environmental Affairs office, the go to the department of mines section
  4. Approach the department service officer at the reception and obtain the Export application form and Declaration then fill them
  5. Submit the filled forms with all the required documents to the mines department officer for validation and pay the required application fee
  6. If the application is correct the department will assign an inspector through the department of geological survey to inspect the consignment
  7. The inspector will conduct the inspection and based on the findings, will make recommendation on the consignment values and seals. Then the inspector will give you the inspection certificate
  8. After which the department of mines through the commissioner decides whether to issue the permit or not, if not the consignment will be impounded
  9. And if they agree, they will issue the export permit through the commissioner on the basis of the report submitted by the inspector
