Procedure

Following are the ways through which Sickness Benefits can be applied :

• In-Person
• By Post
• Electronically
  
  

In-Person

1. The applicant can approach one of the State Social Insurance Agency (SSIA) offices where an application can be made.

By Post

1. When applying through post the applicant should complete the application form that can be found under the following link : More Info & Application Form
2. Also, make sure you attach all the documents that are listed under the Required Documents section of this page.

Electronically

An electronic application can be made through the State Regional Development Agency Portal : Portal Link

Required Documents

• Completed application for receiving the benefit.
• Completed Work Disability Form B.

Eligibility

A person might be encouraged to apply for sickness benefits, if :

• You are an employee.
• You are self-employed and have made social insurance contributions.
• You are a spouse of a self-employed person and have joined the social insurance.
  
  

Time for claiming:
The benefit must be requested within 6 months from the first day of the temporary disability.

Fees

Explain the fees structure which is required for obtaining the certificate/document.

Validity

Explain the time until which the certificate/document is valid.

Processing Time

The decision on granting the benefit will be taken within ten days after the VSAA office has received all documents that are necessary for granting the benefit.

Instructions

If you are sick:If you are sick:

• Continuously, the benefit will be paid for a maximum of 26 weeks. Based on a conclusion issued by VDE?K (the State Medical Commission for the Assessment of Health Condition and Working Ability), the benefit payment period may be extended, but no more than for 52 weeks.
• Intermittently, the benefit will be paid for a maximum of 52 weeks in a three year period.
  
  

Benefit for a child in your care under the age of 14 shall be granted and paid:

• From the 1st to the 14th day of the childs sickness.
• From the 15th to the 21st day, if for a period time the child is cared for in a hospital.
