- To register a Tertiary institute in Kenya, the applicant should make the application to the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA). Please view the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority contact details through this TVETA Contact Details
- First, the applicant should obtain a letter of no objection on the suitability of the name of the proposed institute from TVETA through this Letter of No Objection Registration
- Then the applicant should conduct a business name search of the proposed Tertiary institute from the Registrar of companies through the E-citizen portal and obtain the business or company registration certificate of the Tertiary institute.
- Once the applicant obtains the business registration certificate, the applicant should obtain the application form for registration of a Tertiary Institute from the TVETA office and complete the application form correctly.
- Then the applicant should obtain all the required supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below and attach the documents to the completed application form in a single file.
- The applicant should then submit the complete application documents to the TVETA office located at Utalii House 8th floor.
- Upon submitting the registration application, an accreditation officer at the TVETA office will verify the documents and then calculate the total amount to be paid and issue the applicant with the acknowledgment receipt indicating the amount to be paid by the applicant.
- The applicant will then be required to pay the amount through M-Pesa or TVETA bank account.
- Upon making payment, the applicant will complete a registration form in duplicate as evidence of having submitted their application.
- Then an acknowledgment letter will be issued to the applicant and the institution will be scheduled for inspection.
- On the inspection date, a team of TVETA inspectors will visit and inspect the proposed institution for compliance with the required standards.
- Upon completion of the inspection, the inspectors will prepare an inspection report and submit it to the TVETA Board.
- The TVETA Board will evaluate the inspection report and reach a resolution based on the inspection results. The board may decide to Approve the registration and licensing of the institution, Reject the application, or Request the Institution to improve the disputed areas within six months.
- The applicant will then be notified of the results of the TVETA Board resolution within 3 months from the date of submitting the application.
- If the application is approved for registration and licensing, TVETA will issue the training license and maintain a register of the registered institution and programs approved.
- At this point, the accreditation process is complete, and the institution will be issued with a registration certificate and training license.

- To register a Tertiary institute in Kenya online, the applicant should make the registration application through the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) MIS registration portal via this TVETA MIS Portal.
- On the “INSTITUTION” tab, click on the “Login” button if already registered or click on the “Register” button to create an account.
- After creating the account, an email link will be sent to the applicant email provided for activation.
- Then click on the link to activate the account and then set a password for the account and log in.
- Once the applicant is logged in, the portal will open a page with five areas to be filled by the applicant.
- Enter the required General Information and then provide the specified information and upload the required supporting documents. Save and Continue to the next stages on Infrastructure, Sanitation and Health, Management, Courses, and Training Staff details.
- Then Confirm the details provided, click on the “Declare” button, and a payment page will open up.
- Make the required payment using the online platform.
- Upon making payment, the applicant will complete a registration form in duplicate as evidence of having submitted their application.
- Then an acknowledgment letter will be issued to the applicant and the institution will be scheduled for inspection.
- On the inspection date, a team of TVETA inspectors will visit and inspect the proposed institution for compliance with the required standards.
