Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Private Security Guard Training Center License, the applicant must approach the respective state Private Security Agencies Controlling Authorities link
2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
3. The applicant must fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The applicant must attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
7. The applicant must pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
9. All applications are processed within a reasonable time, having regard to the circumstances of each application, including the completeness of information and documents submitted to the authority by the applicant.
10. The authority may seek additional information from an applicant if this is necessary to assess the application. The authority does not need to deal further with an application until the applicant has provided this additional information.
11. After filing the application, the antecedent of the business and its directors or principal officer is then verified by the Local Police station having jurisdiction over the address of the applicant or the director/principal officer(s) as the case may be.
12. After satisfactory verification of the documents and the applicant’s antecedent, the Controlling Authority issues the License. However, in some cases, the Controlling Authority may require a personal interview of the applicant.
13. This entire process can be completed within 30 - 60 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

• Registration under Shops and Commercial Establishments Act

Eligibility

• Any person who intends to start private security business is eligible to apply Private Security Guard Training Center License.

Fees

Every application under sub-section (1) shall be accompanied by a fee of:

• Rupees five thousand if the private security agency is operating in one district of a State;
• Rupees ten thousand if the agency is operating in more than one but up to five districts of a State; and
• Rupees twenty-five thousand if it is operating in the whole State.

Validity

• The PSARA License remains valid for five years from the date of issuance of the license. The application for renewal of the Psara license must be filed 45 days prior to the license expiry. Once the license gets expired, a fresh application would be required
