==Procedure==

1.An importer starts with preparing all the required documents. The applicant at this stage is expected to obtain different documents from different authorities basing on the type of goods being imported;

2.When all documents have been obtained, the importer proceeds with customs clearance of imports. Customs clearance involves a set of functions undertaken by a nations customs authority in the act of controlling importation and exportation of goods / services. In the importation procedure, customs clearance involves the following:-
*The importer declaring imports to the customs authority which is done by obtaining and filling a declaration form and thereafter submitting it to the authority with all the necessary support documents.
*When documents are received by the customs authority, they are assessed to ensure that true information and documents have been submitted and that the imports meet the required standards;
*After assessment, and imports are approved, the authority assesses duties that the import should clear;
*Upon clearance of taxes and duties, the customs authority releases the imports;

3.When goods arrive at the port of entry, the importer is supposed to declare imports to the port authority. This is done by submitting required documents to the port authorities and it is usually done concurrently with the above procedure (customs clearing). The port authority examine and assess documents and thereafter verify imports against the submitted goods; if imports are verified, the import should clear any prescribed fees and thereafter the port authority releases goods;

4.When imports have been released by customs and port authorizes, the import can then proceed with transportation of goods to the destined place in the Sudan;

==Eligibility==
A trader of mature age who meets all requirements for importation in to the country can import at any time.

==Fees==
Total fees incurred in the importation processes is approximately US$ 2,900 and is as detailed below:-

*Document Preparation US$ 750
*Customs clearance US$ 350
*Handling goods at the ports US$ 300
*Inland transportation US$ 1,500

==Validity==
As long as the import has an import permit and meets all other requirements for importing he / she continues importing goods into Sudan

5.Traders must make sure that their imports meet the required standards;

6.If not well conversant with the customs procedures, seek assistance;

7.Ensure that details of all imports are declared as errors and omissions are penalized;

Importation of goods refers to the process of entering goods in to a given country from another. Importing goods in to Sudan is controlled by government through its customs authority the Sudan Customs Authority.
