==Procedure==
Voluntary renunciation of Egyptian citizenship is only valid when the person has obtained prior official authorization. Person must obtain presidential authorization to abandon their Egyptian nationality. In such cases where authorization is not obtained, dual citizenship can exist by default.

Acquisition of citizenship in another country would permit an Egyptian national to renounce his Egyptian Citizenship.

A Person voluntarily obtains foreign citizenship. Person commits certain offenses. Person who takes permanent residency abroad will lose citizenship after six months

Once an application is submitted along with all the required documents and the Ministry has approved the petition of the applicant to renounce his Egyptian citizenship, he/she will received a renunciation certificate.

:* Visit the concerned authority personally.
:* Fill the application form with the complete information. It must be signed and certified before a magistrate, Justice of Peace, solicitor, notary public or commissioner for oaths.
:* Submit the 2 application forms and the necessary documents.
:* Pay the prescribed fee.

In all cases of loss of citizenship, a presidential decree is required. Due to the uncertainty created by the emphasis on prior authorization, questions pertaining to loss of citizenship should be directed to the Egyptian embassy if you are in a foreign country.

:* Copy of the foreign citizenship certificate or copy of confirmation that the applicant will become the citizen of a foreign country
:* Birth Certificate or latest extract of Birth Certificate for applicants born in Egypt, or Form A for applicants born in a foreign country ;(if any)

:* Citizenship Certificate (if any)
:* Identity card (if any)
:* Passport-sized photograph of the applicant with a green background
:* The applicants left and right thumbprints
:* Egypt passport or other travel documents
:* Marriage document (for female applicants below age 18)
:* Proof of acquisition of citizenship in another country

The Ministry may ask for additional documents to be submitted.

All copies of supporting documents should be made on A4 paper

You will cease to be an Egyptian citizen once the declaration is registered.

Note If you are under 18 years when your parents renounce their Egyptian citizenship, you will also lose your citizenship unless the other parent remains a Egyptian citizen.

==Need for the Document==
This page contains information on renunciation of Egyptian nationality in Egypt. A citizen of Egypt, who is of full age and intends to renounce his Egyptian citizenship, shall make a renunciation declaration to the Egyptian authorities. The President of the Arab Republic Republic of Egypt shall cause such a renunciation declaration to be registered and such Applicant shall cease to be an Egyptian citizen subject to such declaration contrary to public policy, or Egyptian not being physically involved in war.

Egyptian, on the other hand, categorically does not recognize dual citizenship.

An Egyptian automatically loses any claim to Egyptian citizenship in accordance with Egyptians citizenship act on Egyptian Nationality. Specifically, Egyptian citizenship laws are based on Law #17, promulgated on June 22, 1958 regarding the exemption of persons having dual nationalities of the Act addresses the Loss of Egyptian Nationality.
