#This process allows legal firearms owners to seek permission to retain their unserviceable firearms, the licensed firearm owner should write a letter seeking exemption certificate from the Commissioner of Police within his/her parish. #The request letter is to be submitted to the Commissioner of Police office at the police station within the applicant&amp;#039;s jurisdiction (area of residence) for consideration.&lt;br /&gt;
#The Commissioner of Police office will conduct due diligence for the reasons for the request and if the applicant complies with the selection criteria, the commissioner will then decide if to approve or deny the request for processing.&lt;br /&gt;

#The duly completed application form should be submitted in duplicate with the attachments, to the Central Arms Registry office housed at Botswana Police Headquarters. (Address details are mentioned under the “Office Locations &amp;amp; Contacts” section below) for processing and consideration, which is in 14 working days.&lt;br /&gt;
#Applications will be issued with an acknowledgment letter confirming the submission of the application.&lt;br /&gt;
#The licensing officer at the Central Arms Registry office shall only approve the issue of the firearm exemption certificate only upon personally interviewing the applicant and examining the condition of the firearm in question.&lt;br /&gt;
#If approved; the firearm will be registered by the Central Arms Registry office, and the exemption certificate will be drawn up by the Central Arms registry office, signed and stamped by the authorized licensing officer, and made available for withdrawal by the applicant at the dispatch office; against his/her identification document and the acknowledgment letter.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;

Appeals&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
*Where any person is aggrieved by the refusal of issue of any license, certificate, or permit, he/she may appeal in writing to the Minister, whose decision shall be final.&lt;br /&gt;
*Notice of appeal specifying the grounds thereof; shall be lodged to the Commissioner office within 14 days after the date on which the appellant first received notice, whether written or oral, of the decision by which he is aggrieved and the Commissioner shall cause the notice of appeal to be sent to the Minister without delay.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
